-- why doesnt HTX degrees (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928381503)
Kraut Creek Blue Dark Shadow is a HTX and his sire and dam are shown as producing one HTX ( HTX 1 ) .

Todd,
How about after a dog has passed , lets say 9 HTX they could be considered a silver champ. then 18 a gold champ. then 27 a plat ch. After 27 everytime they had the next 3, Platinum HTX 1, and add a number after every three the way you do now.
Just an idea. I am sure there are more and better ideas. Maybe they can ad or subtract from mine.
Just ad the HTX to the PAD ped. Solves that.

Very Good Idea Mr. Mcmillen
I like your thinking on this. To me HTX should be a title or degree as it shows your dog can do its job by itself. Basic Coon dog.
UKC tries to make things for all people and I like that.
Have a good day folks, Jeff
What if at the first level when you are going for your HTX you need to tree one coon in an hour and can't have two faults (the way it is now). But at the next level when you are trying for your HTXCH you need to tree two coon in an hour and can't have any faults. That's what I mean by making it harder.
The problem in our sport is that the coon population fluctuates so much from region to region it might not be fair. Whereas in a retriever trial ever dog has the same number of birds to be evaluated on.

WHY NOT INCORPORATE THE IDEA I HAD THAT FOLKS LIKED WITH YOURS FOR MORE PRESTIGOUS TITLE.
JUST REMEMBER THAT SOME YOUNG MEN ARE STARTING IN THESE AND WE DO NOT WANT TO PUSH THEM AWAY IF THEY ARE TO HARD.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion but I respectfully disagree. There are reasons why the HTX certificate is not considered a championship. We can discuss that and hopefully get it changed. I am all for it as described above. But please don't insist that the program means "very little to UKC". Especially to the person who developed it. Cause that could not be further from the truth.

I copied this off of the Hunt Test Rules page. HTX is referred to as Titles and degrees so it should be listed on a dogs offspring report in my opinion.
Titles:
11. Upon the completion of three (3) successful hunt test passes by the three different inspectors, a dog will be issued the title of HTX as a suffix to the dog’s UKC registered name. The owner of record will be sent a degree and new Easy Entry card verifying the achievement.
12. Multiple titles may be earned for each additional three (3) successful hunt test passes. Multiple titles will be indicated by a numerical addition to the HTX title such as HTX2, HTX3, etc. The owner of record will be sent a degree and new Easy Entry card for each additional title.

Todd, this is not a bad idea either. I am in the process of helping get another club started, and there are a lot of kids wanting to get involved and join the club. I just wish they would make the HTX hunts a championship degree of some sorts. I think it would draw a huge crowd of young beginers and a lot of hunters who have lost a step or two out to the clubs so they could feel as if they had accomplished something with there hounds besides just an HTX Title. Also, I think UKC and the local club would benefit money wise. This is just food for thought.

How about HTX titles in different regions Like an SEHTX(Southeast)NEHTX(N.East) and so on to me showing your dog can do it in different areas would make it harder also and show more of thier skills.Just a thought.

On a P.A.D (pups and degrees) pedigree only championship titles are included which are those earned in competition. But I agree with you, I would like to see HTX included in those stats and I would also like to see HTX certified dogs eligible for the duals class at the Autumn Oaks and Winter Classic bench shows.
