-- dog has loose screw??? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928375368)

A weekend go-cart driver shouldn't be working on a nascar engine!! You should know more than the dog if you want to train it. No offense meant, just my opinion after 50 years of working with coonhounds.

Training

I dont agree with that ,you gotta start somewhere ,get that nascar motor out and tweek that thang.I always say do your best and learn from every dog you train .Every dog you train will train you more than you train it good luck, just remember some of the best training you can do for some dogs at certain stages is laying them up every now and then.

You are right Waidmaster. Sorry, I forgot about the dog that trained me. 50 years is a long time ago lol. A young dog like he described doesn't come along every day.
Just use common sense and patience and the dog will make a better handler out of you lol.
Best of luck and it wouldn,t hurt to keep a journal on your trip to the winners circle with this hound Hoss.

To train a dog a dog the trainer has to be smarter than dog.

pup seems to be full of spirit aand go he's looking for something to happen, give him time as he matures he will calm down.age will help him mature and get his head on the right track...in my opinion if a pup hasn't got a little loose screw it probably not make much of a dog...jmo

TEAM DOOZE

HOSS, JUST STICK WITH HIM, A LITTLE MORE AGE WILL SOLVE MOST OF HIS PROBLEMS.

Im gonna stick with him. Ive had him laid up all week. First time hes had more than one night off since i started him. The pup has lots of potential. And i aim to get it out of him. I got a guy helpin me with him so he will be alright. I just lost my paitence with him and needed a break. With a lil more age he will be one you dont want to draw. 1st or 2nd track dog and 1st tree dog and very deadly accuterate. Seems like hes had a lil problems since the leaves have came on but its his first spring so i dont hold that against him. Thanks again to the guys with the help.
