Big scores

Can happen and legit, but several things half to fall in to place. The very first thing is a smart guide that takes care of his coons. The ones that don't kill them, which sometimes requires feeder buckets to keep them around. Second is you can't put a lot of pressure on them, you want them to go up fast. Than you got to hope you draw one of these guys out on the luck of the draw or hire one or hope the hunt comes to your area. Than hope you draw out good sportsman that are out to win but not after blood. Than know how to manage the two hours you have to hunt. You half to have your dog in really good shape and know it inside and out. Always half to catch a good break. But the most important thing, you better have a coon tree ur on the end of your least that's a first and first type dog. Congrats to the winners, we all need to think positive, cause most of us wasn't there and we don't have the coon population they have. Good job treeing walkers association. You all look like you put on a fine hunt.

Kenney clark you are correct. I guided all 3 nights hunted the same woods. We scored on 4 Thursday 8 Friday and 6 Saturday. 437 1/2 is what I scored Thursday and Saturday the dog had 500. Just got lucky the coons moved better in my spots Friday night and I would not have been able to score the 1325 without them 2 guy minusing out. Alot of people need to realize not all these casts that scored big had dogs get out of the way when they knew they couldn't win

coon

I am 1 hr. 45 min. south of the grounds and dogs were here down real close 2 nights, maybe more. We have the coons, here. Congrats the leaves were off, so the coon treer's won. Multiple high scores, and some good guides.

1725+ Heres all it takes.
If you draw to a four dog cast, two guys gotta decide real quick that they dont wanna play anymore.
Now all you need is first and first on 8 coon.
The fourth dog in the cast has to be the perfect cover dog so you dont have to run the fives.
All 8 of those coon gotta just popup, no time for runnin tracks or walkin to trees.
All 8 of those coon gotta be easy to find, no time for searchin trees.
Nothin to it.

Most of you are right. It can't be done sitting in the easy chair, typing on your keyboards. Friday night we scored on 5, Saturday 6. We plussed the trees with coon, minused the trees that were blank, and circled the trees a coon could be in that we did not see.

Just because you do not, have not, and will not have what it takes to get there, don't fault us that do.

I'm glad to see there were several top of the line coontreers that showed up.Leaves were off and them big Indiana coon are pretty easy to find.Ive seen 6 singles treed in one patch of woods over there in less than a hour.It was with my potlicker so I'm not doubting these top hunters and top hounds can do it.Walker power is still out there from the looks of it.

I guided casts at the Winter Classic in Miss.this year. On Saturday, my cast made 12 trees: 9 singles,1 den and 2slicks.One dog scratched on the.second drop, another dog lasted about an hour. The two dogs that.were left ended up with 1400+,425- and 1325+,437.5-.They got the last.minus. on the last dump by leaving a tree in deep water.5 men saw every coon and slick. This place usually is good for 4-6 coons in 2 hours. Everything was perfect that night, except all the minus.Jr.Steelman

Ok. One question. What was the score of those TOP coon hounds on the final cast with nonhunting judge? I don't see it posted anywhere in the results.

Posted by prostockpat on 04-21-2014 02:27 PM:

Coon population?

Big scores are possible.....IF the places the "guides" take you don't get dog'd out, and kill season{s} put on them.
I hunted Friday night {grand}We ended up coming 20min. from my house.

Dog that won my cast scored 850+,no circle,no minus.
3 dog cast after Judge ended up w/d after 1hr.Only wanted to give minus, not take any. After that the cast went great.Dog that won deserved it, no mistakes by dog or handler.

I have scored 1,050 {leaves on}.Burned most of time shinning.
3 female cast. 1hr in,the other 2 females balled up at the tree in front of cast.I hunted 59min. alone.

When I started this thread, I was just commenting on how hard it is to win this thing. I mean, 1300 plus points (Dark Side- Brian Hartrum) don't even get into the Final Four. That's some tough scores!!!
But of course it had to turn in to what we have here now.
