Who makes the chaps? I know that the chap makers will put what ever label you provide them. So are they Dans or Yoders? Or some other?

I used them for years before I took a break from coon hunting. I had good luck with froglegs from Wick's. Does anybody know why no one sews the chap or frogleg to the top of the boot????? 20 years ago nobody sewed it to the ankle...now that's all there is. It must be "better" for some reason but I don't own a pair yet so I can't figure it out. Does anyone know if there is a company that makes NON-INSULATED rubber boots for the summer that will go over big calves????

Just a guess but a lot of todays boots aren't rubber above the ankle .

The last pair I just got less than 3 months ago. Last night I noticed they are already leaking and starting to fall apart. I first started out with the arrowheads and now with the muck boots with Pro chaps. This is just very dissappointing when you pay $150 for something and they just don't hold up. Just seeing if anyone else has noticed this problem here lately.

I bought a pair of leather boots with chaps from Valley Creek at Autumn Oaks last year and I swear by them. I can walk right thru most anything and haven't ripped them on barbed wire yet. If they wore out tonight I'd order a new pair tomorrow! The boots are very comfortable. I had a pair of Mucks previously but they didn't fit quite right and the chaps I had were developing holes on the inside seam. As for the heel problem, since I'm a woman with small feet and unfortunately don't appreciate the "pretty" boots with little tread I make do by using duct tape to cover the wore places and thicker socks. When I've had blisters or tender heels I've even put on a bandaid with duct tape over it then put on a sock. You do what you gotta do. Lol!

Purchased a pair of Muck Boots with the BadLands chaps from nitetimesupply.com about 8 months ago and I wont go to the woods without em! Ran through the thickest **** of briars ive ever been through the other night..next drop I walked across the river, about 2ft of water.
I will be buying another pair whenever these go out.

I think the quality has gone way down . It does not seem like the material they line the boots with anymore are the same. it has alot slicker feel to it and thinner! . Boy i have the same problem u do !! Frustrating !! I have a real old pair of 800 gram Lacrosse Burly boots ( no Chaps attached) with air grip sole that i have had for YEARS , now i only do wear them during winter cold months and not just for hunting, not even any abrasion on the inside of heel area. My OLD un insulated lacrosse burlys old wick brand froglegs<these boots are still fine in the heel area but the rest of them are trashed out obviously.
I have tried Lacrosse and muck both several pairs over the last 5 years- same problem EVERYTIME, Heels wear out !! and rest of the boot is fine . Im at a loss anymore with rubber boots........
Any recommendations from any ya'll ???
Thanks !!

Try dunlop boots! Theyre made out of dunlop rubber and there is no liner to wear out on the inside of them. They have the deepest tread and are more durable than anyother rubber boot made as ive seen them all. The only drawback is theyre heavier and more expensive. If u get them get the ones with the steel toe.

Zach- thanks for the tip im gonna look into those !

It seems from all the posts/threads ive been reading and feedback from everyone is that there just aint any good frogleggs out there anymore? Either the chap is too heavy , baggy, too thin, too thick, OR the boot aint no good, etc, etc I know everyone has an opinion with diff wants and needs. Also depends on the type of terrain you hunt and or time of year. Alot of people will "settle for less" and just "live with it" ....... .... i just cant do that.

I wonder if anyone is making or tried a good GORETEX leather or cordura boot and attaching the chaps to those ??? may be expensive but could possibly be worth it ? Obviously, they would need a good way to attach em so they wont leak at the attachment..... Opinions ??

Have you tried the Bama Socks (called something like that)? I wore out the inside of the heels in my Mucks so I duct taped them, but it got to where the tape would get so stuck to my socks that I could hardly get my boots off without tearing my socks up. Without the duct tape, I'd wear all the skin off the backs of my heels within about an hour. That was painful!
I finally listened to my husband and got a pair of the Bama Socks. Problem solved!

.....but then I lost the entire sole off one of my boots, so now I have to get a new pair of waders anyhow. LOL Been putting it off for 2 yrs but it's too wet this year to wait any longer. Might just have to take my husband's advice again and get a pair of the Reptile Chaps from Nite-Time Hunting Supply. Still not sure what boot I want tho'.
