For you guys like gadog1 who recently signed up with Direct TV - how long was the process from when you signed up and it was installed?

I was given a tip that I should sign up through a local Direct Tv company over a national one.

buck shot don't who your phone service is down there but wife bundle everything through frontier which is our phone service

hillbilly56, yea the two cable companies here offer the bundle packages.

Comcast has a monthly limit on their internet (300GB) and offer VOIP phone (had Vonage for years as a business line and not a fan of VOIP).

WOW has unlimited internet and old fashion landline (why we still have an old fashion landline these days with 4 cell phones out 5 people in the house can be blamed on my wife - she still wants it even though she doesn't use it (go figure).

But WOW's sport's channel sucks.

So I have Comcast for cable and WOW for internet and phone.

Would be nice to bundle and save - but for what I am wanting, that is not an option.

LOL, Sports is the only thing keeping me from kicking cable to the curb.

we had comcast but it got so dang high wife said she was going to change she call direct 1st they didn't have phone service in our area so she went to dish it's about 1/2 of what we was paying for comcast and alot more channels i don't watch but about 4 or 5 channels but i can watch what i like

DIRECT TV SET-UP

It did not take long for them to come out & the Service Tech. was very good. It's what the Company did to us (They can break our contract,but, we can't without paying them back the savings we were receiving). Premiums start out low for a year or maybe 2. Then they go up. I Found this to be True with Dish & Direct. We started Bundling (Phone, Cells Phones, Internet, Direct TV). Years ago. They gave us $5 off each month. Then quit doing it after a year or two. Were not told there was a time limit on this. You just have to stay ahead of the game if you can. We NEVER Do Direct Payment on ANY UTILITIES, Including Phones. If you have a large or Incorrect bill you are the one that suffers.

I have direct tv and I like it you have alot more channels than dish. Direct has the espn sports package. The 720 channels I like when lots of ball games are on you can switch back and forth. When it rains the signal doesn't go out to bad

I've had both dish and direct. Would NEVER go back to either because of problems with customer service,billing,hidden charges, etc. Had direct until they dropped the weather channel.was paying over $100 a month for the mid level package.The same package started out at $29 a month.They charged me $300 for a nfl package last summer that I never agreed to.NEVER allow them to charge your credit card!!! I got local cablenow

Dish all the way....it is awesome

I love sports and have more channels than I can watch...
If you get it, make sure you ask for Ch. 212 which is blaze tv. If you like news you will get the best news available on television...

Two questions sum up life....
Why am I here ? And Where am I headed.

Left Directv for about 9 months ,went to Comcast for mainly for internet . We are back to Directv and happy as coon in a corn patch with all the hounds tied up .

Over the summer, I ended up moving the cable to WOW as they now offer the Sports Channel I was needing plus by bundling my internet and phone, saving money - even with adding the sports package for extended sports channels.

I went a slight different route with Satellite TV. Dish launched Sling TV earlier this year. Able to pick up even more sports channels - and can stream them in HD.

At the end of the day, saving money this route as opposed to how I was originally set-up. And have all the sports channels I wanted.

Direct...

Have had direct and dish and both worthless when raining, out totally, trees also effect the signal, neither worked consistently, went back to cable and no problems also have cable internet....
