Was listening to CNN recently they said the shooting rates haven't changed in years. The difference is the media is covering more of them due to the administration wanting our 2nd amendment. Maybe if I get time I can research school shootings.

Parents need to get back to parenting at a young age spending time with their kids listening & being envolved .

Gotta agree 100% on this post ,,Mental illness doesn't know any political boundries and shouldn't be used to blame any party .

You could be right but the point is these kids have a national platform for their cause or problems now with all the media coverage . In doing your research see how many shootings were done to fellow students & facility before the invention of the television . And yes part of our liberal media has used these tragedies to advance gun control & it worked quite well for them last year . I had read somewhere a while back that one of the only school shootings on record in the 1800's was when a young students killed a man with his own gun defending his teacher against an intruder who was there to kill the teacher in an un-related dispute . And yes I'm an advocate of properly trained pistol packing teachers or administators if the school cannot afford full time security gaurds .

In my school days it was kids committing suicide and the media took allot of blame for the chain reaction.
The sick"er" part of this is Democrats using it for fuel.

I believe what Lee meant by this is that some liberals with an agenda in the Democratic party is using these shootings to their advantage to advance gun control - these tradegies have been used to persue a political agenda ...and that is sickening & does nothing to help the troubled youth of our country or protect the innocent . The beginning of this thread imformed us of a very liberal thinking young man but also a troubled one . My question would be how many of his "facebook friends" read these posts & did it not raise any red flags with anyone . He went to that school with the intent to kill his speech & debate teacher I would bet who had differing political veiws than him - I have differing veiws on many political issues with a few of you on here , but the thought of killing someone over them has never crossed my mind . This young man like all the others had underlying problems & put out warning signs that once again were ignored .

And the republian party don't?. I don't understand how a rational thinking individual could accuse one party of something that's standard practice among parties. What's the cons.approach to troubled youth?

No the republican party hasn't used these atrocities to advance gun controls - many of the dems in the house & senate were actually intelligent enough not to vote for o's ideas . The state level in liberal controlled states was a whole nother story . New bans and controls were passed in several .
And no neither party does enough for these troubled youth although I think much more good can be done on a county / school level & at home than the federal gov't could ever do .

If theyd show a few of these idiots being shot down on the media channels. I bet the school shootings would be way lower. You still haven't saw any shootings at any places where some folks might have guns. They may be mental but they know schools are gun free zones.
