What style of dogs does jake throw? why hasn't he been bred more. I should have been in the top 20 with the female I plan on breeding to him sometime but lost on a default rule. I think they would cross well.

Thanks for your questions Rocky.

It's my understanding that Jake's oldest litters are in FL and are winning....call Michael O'Neal about these..... We are told that Jake spent a long time recovering from a rattle snake bite (along with Insane Jane) when he was younger that delayed his being promoted at stud....Brandon Hathaway can give more info.
Here are the qualities we see in Jake that he should put in his pups. Hunt & trail.....Jake goes hunting hard on every turn out...not a straight line hunter, not a dead loner , but hunts as deep as needed whether he has company or not, doesn't let other dogs influence him. Jake seems to know where to go to find a coon and has good accuracy, showing intelligence....He has an exceptional loud horn bawl on track and a colder than average nose but....Jake DOES NOT straddle a track, mud hole or stand on his head! If he can't get it straightened out quickly, he moves on. He drives a track to catch with good speed.
Tree..... When the coon goes up, Jake seems to smell him in the air and gives one or two powerful locate bawls AS HE COMES UNDER THE TREE. Jake is a quick locator...he DOES NOT circle the tree bawling for 5 minutes before settling on it. Jake is a hard, steady, slobber mouthed, pull pressure tree dog. Jake is a first tree dog, and if he tree's over 200 yards away, any dogs that cover him will have to be pitched in by their handlers, because they can't be heard! Jake is a gentle, friendly hound that likes attention. Any dog that IS WILLING to tree WITH HIM can do so. He IS NOT ILL. Jake DOES MAKE MISTAKES, but is an exceptional hound.
Jake is a very likeable hound and a pleasure to be around. He has had several homes in the past, but is now home to stay. Hope this answered your questions Rocky.

For those that feel I must have stretched the truth in this post, please call the long list of references on Jake I gave in a post above.

I was just curious cuz I love his ped. and I know what my female is. I think they would cross great! Truthfully I don't give 2 shits about papers but if we make this cross they would be unreal!

I'm Just not set on if I wanna breed her yet or not. She is such a pleasure to hunt. and she is still young idk if I should give her another year or not. Hard choices!

Many things should be considered when deciding whether to breed a female. In many cases, the better females don't get bred because we don't want to loose that hunting time with them. Some that should not be bred are bred, usually for the wrong reasons. I know you will make the right choice on when and to whom to breed her.

Let Rocky or I know if you get any collections from Jake up at Bitzel's. We might put a breeding or 2 on ice.

We've had some of the nicest pups we've ever had off of Legend. And we have some darn nice dogs off of a male off Get Back Jessie.

Jake should be breeding more females!

When you breed your good coon treeing females to Jake, he will add these qualities to your pups......
Exceptionally loud voices, horn bawl on track, impressive bawl locate and hard, loud steady chop on tree.
Cold nosed, fast, one way track drivers.
Fast, accurate locators.
Pull pressure tree dogs.
Exceptional good looks...color and conformation .. long straight legs, long ears, big heads.
Easy going, calm dispositions, above average intelligence.

Put some BALANCE back in your kennel. Breed to Dual Grand Champion Get Back Jake........ S.S./P.P. Sire.

The reason Jake's pups are so good looking is because it's bred in him.
Here is one of his littermate sisters, NtCh Jessamina.

A man I consider to be one of, if not THE most successful and respected breeders in the history of the Treeing Walker breed, Kenny Abbott of West Virginia drove halfway across the country to breed one of his top young females, GrNtCh Big Horn Bella to GrNtCh Get Back Jake this week. This litter will have an All Grand pedigree. Bella's pedigree is full of top hounds bred over the years by Kenny. Mr. Abbott DID NOT build his legacy of breeding TOP hounds by crossing old ready to old handy. He knows where to go to get the traits needed to continue to produce balanced winners. We want to thank Kenny and his Wife for their confidence in Jake's reproducing ability needed to make that long drive and wish them the Best of Luck in the future.

Kenny said he may sell a few of these if the litter is large enough. PH# 304-565-4962

I dont know or have ever spoken to either one of the owners of this dog. But this is the best bred stud dog advertised today. I am very interested in a pup out of him, and I dont fool with very many pups. If anyone breeds the right female to him I would be interested in a pup. Thanks,,Roger

Folks should be lining up to breed to Jake. He's got one of the best pedigrees offered and sounds like he has the traits lots of guys are looking for.

Have any video of him treeing?
