after looking at what you emailed me, he has a base but personally I'd like to see more hunt dogs in there. I'd just say he either came from some backyard breedings and just doesn't have the competition drive that the bigger redbone breeders are breeding for these days. I had one at his age that did the same thing, and after 30 days of hard hunting and droppin coon he was a nice little dog, unfortunately I lost him throughout the winter and I cant tell you how he finished out but I'd say just keep huntin him, he's young yet
Hey BTW, I have seen some dogs go into a rebellious stage where it may seem as they are going backwards from how they may have started. I have seen this anywhere from 12 months old to 20 months old, I would keep him till he's at least two and see how he progresses.
What I did with my red dog when he was doing this was I kept a tablet and documented ever night. I.E., first drop tracked but didn't tree. Second drop treed hard but didn't stay, get my point. Then in months down the road you can go back and look to see how he was doing.
Also....
..... You may want to knock the coon out but don't let him have one. Ether by himself or with another dog.
i have heard the saying end on + note not a lot of young dogs
can tree layups with mullberries and cherry coming on dont get
to dwn.

It doesnt matter the breed,it takes patience working with a young dog.a lot of people dont have any and get up tight to quick and give up,
