-- How often do ya pop a coon???????????? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928319141)
Irony or Hypocrisy?
Asks "how many ILLEGAL / out of season coon you all shoot?"
And has a signature of "Take a kid hunting. Set a good example."
Gotta love it......
I apologize for asking anything that makes or made anyone mad. In my area and everyone I have came in contact with shoots a coon out of season or has to train a pup. I personally have not in past several years. I apologize again and hope this is forgivin.

I don't eat them that much any more so I rarely shoot one unless I have someone who wants them. I don't take them in the off season at all. They are having little ones and nursing kits. So in a sense it would not only be against the law, but almost stupid to knock them out during spring and summer. Coon not as thick down here as they were where I was from in NC so I try to conserve on our lease as much as I can. I like having plenty of coon to start young dogs.

My limit during season, take no more than 1 per tree period. and none during the off season unless they get into my chicken pen or garden.
imho dogs tree because they where bred to not because of how many you shoot out to them.
Popping Coons.
I shoot some in season, not a bunch.
As far as out of season, Me and ole Slow Poke are gunna have to plead the 5th.

There were some knotheads talking about gutting shooting coon to walk them down a tree to dogs .. and i got booted from that group for reminding them it was a public group and that stuff was pretty wild to be talking about .. and doing.
Popping coon out is for the hunter , not the dogs ... it's like a kid shooing birds with a bb gun or that deer hunter that gets antsy and pops a coyote or squirrel from his deer stand when no deer come by ... those people exist everywhere , but in our sport .. .they do us more harm than other groups those type belong to.
Hounds have evolved past needing many coon out to make em' treedogs ... too bad we can't say the same for hunters !
I use to shoot more. Use to I shot one out of about 7 Coon treed. All yr round. I didn't care. Now I hardly ever shoot one. Might kill 10 a yr.

The way i look at it is i dont work for free so i dont expect my dogs to in season they get everyone they tree n i skin n sell them spring time they dont get any because of cubs unless its a young dog just starting out
Dogs aren't people , they don't hunt for money or to pay bills and buy gas ... and they get culled if they don't do their job , we don't ... humanizing animals is what the AR do ... they wanna give dogs rights , and now hunters wanna give dogs a paycheck ... hmmmm
a sure nuff coon dog would rather tree then anything else.coondogs are bred to tree not taught.
