Posted by Nate Ratcliff on 02-20-2013 10:21 PM:

From what I understand they are leaving it up to us as members to change for 2014 or 2015.This will happen in holmsville this yr why it can't be changed for 2014.They did pass a vote for Bellevue mich.in 2014 but as of now it stay.s as the 4 th of July.I wasn't at nationals last yr due to health issues, but if what your guys are saying that it was voted and passed on. Than why was it brought back up at southern days? It dose sound a little fishy to me.I think certain board members don't want a change and this is a result of it.The minutes must of been changed in there favor so they could prolong the change. We as members need to stand up and speak out to get this movin forward.I know for the most part we have a great board but there are a few people on there that don't want change and are pullin some shady stuff.

Board of Directors

I was voted onto the board in july of 2012 and to this day noone has contacted me to what was to be said at the meeting at southern days . I wasnt able to make it because of a new job but you would think that they would at the least inform the board members as to what was going on. So i wish i had a answer for the members as to what went on. I will try to get some answers but i would bout bet that nobody will talk.

Has any actual board member who was at the meeting at southern days posted anything on this forum...or is everyone on here getting upset over what they have heard second hand? I don't think it's fair to condem the whole board...especially with so many new members, because a few might be standing in the way of change. I was at the last meeting in July and I feel the same as most of you. A motion was made, then it was seconded, then we had discussion, then a vote was held and the motion was passed by a majority vote. Until we here otherwise from a board member who was at southern day this year....maybe we should not get so carried away. If there is a reason that the date cannot be changed as soon as 2014...it might be because of something other than the outcome of the vote held last July. Many things are effected by this date change and while I don't know for sure....maybe they were not able to get everything set up for an April 2014 hunt.

calm

We have no need for impeaching anyone, we vote each year on our officers. The board serves term longer than a year but we can also vote on them. What we need are active members that hold our directors and officers accountable for following thru on the motions that are passed.
I went to the southern days meeting and at that general meeting the minutes were read by the secratary. The motion that was passed last July was read. That motion was " To change the date of national Redbone Day to the last weekend in april or the closest weekend to that date that UKC would approve." immediantly after reading that part of the minutes there was a question by a director to clarify the motion. They stated that they thought the motion was to "Look into" changing the date. I spoke and stated the the minutes read at the general meeting were correct, that the motion was to "Change" the date . There was NEVER any wording in the motion about "looking into" changing the date. If this was added it was not read that way in the general meeting . I had a director tell me that durring the directors meeting it was said the the motion contained that language "looking into". That would be incorrect.
If indeed the minutes that the directors discussed in their meeting were different than the ones read at the general meeting than someone has some questions to answer. It's my understanding that UKC has given us the date in April for 2015, I hope that we have accepted them as per this motion. I would encourage all active members to make it to the July meeting . The board has many good people on it that know what is going on . I have no dout that there are some people on the board that are willing to play around with this motion to try to see it not happen. That would not be good for our Association. I made the motion ,I clarified the wording at Southern Days, lets get over this and start planning for our new hunt date.

It all takes time

first off I am not an officer or on any board at this time for the National Redbone Association, just a paid up member. I also was at the July meeting and I also thought it was voted to change the date to around the last weekend in April. I really think it will be changed, but like all clubs when something like this happens it takes time- 1st to check with UKC to see if they would let us move the date, also some of the zone hunts will have to be changed, the constution/ by laws should be changed in order to have the annual meeting at redbone days, as it is now it says the annual meeting will be in July, plus we are proable working at least a year out, all of this takes time-to get all of this changed and all the i's dotted and everything right , and if you have ever been a part of any club, volunteer fire dept ,church or NRB ASSOCIATION,etc. you will find that only a few do the work, you can have committees but often nothing gets done or if it does it is at the last minute. so with this being said lets all pull together and support and offer to help those who are put into the leadership rolls, if we ALL do a little it will get done, its real easy to set back and complain, lets try to volunteer to help get this done. I understand that a few may not be for moving the date, but I think that the majority rules. so with this being my opinion let me say Mr. president Dutch if I can help out give me a shout. anyone else want to offer your support??

me too

I have offered from day one to help wherever needed on this ,I also told Dutch that again several months ago .I had declined a board nomination at National Days because I currently serve on the American Association board and didn't think it would be fair to several of the other very good nominees to be on both. However since then I have expressed to Dutch that I would be glad to fill in any open seats on the board and would not decline a nomination if offered. There were several open seats at one time but since then they have been filled , I was not asked and that's ok. I'm not complaining ,I'm willing to help just say what you need.

For what?

I was there and voted on this change. I think alot of us knew this date change was gonna ruffle feathers. We've heard the pros and cons of it.....miss jean wrote about it In the column in this months BLOODLINES....but here's how it sits in alot of people's eyes....if its brought to a vote by the body of members and dose not pass....the members don't go around acting like it did do they? Same as this it passed 2014 was gonna be the new dates..if that dosnt happen seems the majority vote was for not...and for that I'm gonna say alot of good standing members will make the right choice as I know I will......think about it

That pretty much says it as it should be without a lot of hysterics about the out come , there is always different opinions and the majority vote wins . Nothing about this is life threatening either way so try very hard not to damage something we care about.

The way I see it :

2013 in Ohio is as is with the July date

1 See if Bellevue, Mi. can & will do the April date for 2014 .
2 Association meeting will be at Redbone Days regardless of date.
3 2013 Zones qualify you for 2014 days
4 Resubmit contracts (quickly) for 2015

This is just me thinking with likely NOT a complete grasp of all involved and also just because it isn't printed on this forum doesn't necessarily mean it's not being worked on . It's easy to forget that everyone has a life to live and take care of that puts all this at least in 2nd place .

I would be willing to help:making phone calls, sending letters!I'm not sure what changing this hunt involves, but I would say almost two years from the time it was voted on and passed is plenty of time!As a paid member I think since July,2012 the association should already have alot of this ironed out!

there's a lot of talk about changing dates.not only from the redbone breed but from some other breeds, about changing from a earlier dates to later in the year,so it is more of a family event,so kids don't have to be taken out of school. Our club got a letter wanting us to put in a bid to hold Rebone days. But till we find out when it is going to be held we are not able to put in a bid.I haven't been a member for a few years,i have to send my membership in to catch me back up,when i first joined the national association it has always been held on or aroud the 4th of july that was back in 1970,and it moved around the country, and was family oriented event.fellow ship for all and a great time.which i still have a good time visiting with redbone hunters.some of you don't no me but some do but i love to follow the reds, health keeps me from comp. hunting, but i stay involved in the hunting sport.so i say good luck in the hunts with those red dogs, keep our assocation stong.

2013 NRBD

It will be in Ohio in July. The date could not be change by UKC that quick. Bellview, Michigan is the place for 2014 in July. We have talked to Allen(UKC) about the date change & it has been approved but with some concern. Kids in school ,farmers still have crops , Easter weekend and not to mention that once we give up the July 4 date we will loose it forever. I'm sure that in no way will the board do anything but what the members want & to the best intrest of our breed.

Only 4 clubs put in a bid to host NRBD. We pulled
Homesvile & then 1 of the other clubs didn't meet the criteria to host it. Even Bellview ,Michigan don't have enough camper hookups but we are trying to work that out . Please support this new board & bear with us . We have alot of new leaders that will make this work. There will be some great new changes to NRBD as far as hunt & show winners. The board also welcomes any & all suggestions.

CHANGE

Sometimes a change is good ! I've had a few pm's & a couple of calls from members that would like to see the date change go through. I personally didn't make it this past July because of a work project & Train was getting over Blasto & was not able to hunt. I will go on record also to say I belive that changing the date will be a good decision on the associations part . If you are going to hunt or show at any event you will make the needed arrangements to do so. SETW days was this past weekend & they hunted 128 dogs on Thursday nite ,over 200 on Friday nite & not sure on total for Saturday. This was a great event with a great turnout . I don't see any reason why we can't have the same caliber of a event.

Like someone has said many ,many times . If you don't like the way things are being done step up & help make things better. We have a die hard Redbone man as President (Dutch Harvey ) & we need to trust in the new board of directors.

Take care & see you all at national days.

Andy,2013 was already set for Holmesville the weekend of July fourth! At NRBA membership meeting in July 2012 there was a motion made and was second, voted on and passed by the membership to change the date to the last weekend in April or the closest to the end of April as possible!Did I understand right that 2014 NRBA days will be in April at Bellview Mi. Why would we lose that date forever, because I don't see any other Breed Association wanting to make their hunt the fourth of July weekend! Thanks Andy for the update!

July 4

From what I have heard from other board members & from talking to Allen(UKC) this past weekend , that there are a few waiting to have a chance to pick that date up. It is our understanding that once we give up that date we will no longer get it back.

So i wish i had a answer for the members as to what went on. I will try to get some answers but i would bout bet that nobody will talk.

WHINING AND DANCING

Like Yall are Bowing to the pope or something.

No answers, and scared to death to ask for the answers!!!!

I understand it was voted on and passed in 2012 to be changed and the date was supposed to be voted on in february in cedar grove.

I guess its over, all are satisfied

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andy it doesnt matter to me but it shouldnt matter if you will loose the date or not, or if the farmers are planting or not, or if easter is in march or april,

IT WAS VOTED ON AND PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THERE SHOULD BE NO RE-VOTE

Worry about further separation or anything else shouldnt play into it.

ITS DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have respect for you andy and one of the few that I trust,

Just tell me if I am understanding this right

Was it voted and passed in july of 2012 to move the date?
Was it supposed to be voted on in february to set the date?
Was that vote taken and is the date set?
No need to beat around the bush was these things voted on and if not why was it not??

Than why was it brought back up at southern days? It dose sound a little fishy to me.I think certain board members don't want a change and this is a result of it.The minutes must of been changed in there favor so they could prolong the change. We as members need to stand up and speak out to get this movin forward.I know for the most part we have a great board but there are a few people on there that don't want change and are pullin some shady stuff.

AND WITHOUT THEM THERE IS NO ASSOCIATION!!!!!!!!!!!

I AGREE TOTALLY WITH NATE
