-- Joe Morris - Tragedy at Wilson Hunt (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928283168)
If you live within driving range and knew Joe, please come to the wake or the funeral or both and lets show his family how much he meant to all of us. Lets fill up the parking lot of the funeral home with muddy trucks with dog boxes.
I just heard the sad news about Joe.
I have known Joe for many years and he has always been a straight shooter. He will be missed by the coonhunters and most of all his his family!
My prayers and condolences goes out to his family.

Condolences to the Morris family. Sounds like our Sport has lost a good ambassador.
I just got home from Joe's wake and if I hadn't known better I would have thought I was at the wake of a rock star or president. I got there 20 before seven and by five after seven the line was out the door and when I left at 8:30, the line was still out the door. Joe might not be here in person but his spirit will live on in the people who knew him for many years to come.
It was a great show of support, especially from the coonhunters from the surrounding areas.
Thanks to all who attended, Thanks also for prayers from all who cannot attend in person.

Thanks for all the kind words on this post.
The funeral was yesterday and while it was a sad occasion the funeral was very good. The family car pulled out fololowed by 15 to 20 trucks with dog boxes, what a great show of support by the hunters who were his friends.
This was the first funeral I have had to speak at, preparing the message and delivering it has been the most emotionally draining experience I have ever undergone. having said that I would not trade that experience for anything, I was honored to be asked to speak and am hopeful my words were a comfort for friends and family.
I'd like to mention that the second speaker of the day was his cousin Rev. Stephen Morris. Steve made mention of this post and the comments made by those of you who responded in his message. The family had found this post and read it the night of the visitation. Your words regarding Joe were comforting to the family and I thank each of you who posted for your comments!

think you did a nice job speaking, especially considering the emotional strain you were under. it's hard to lose your best friend
and hold up the way you did, almost unbearable.
left and went and treed a few, rememberance of JOE, i'm gonna have me a baby ruth.
good hunting, GOD BLESS.

I talked to Mrs. Morris today and she was doing good. She told me how much the show of support from the coonhunters meant to her during the wake and funeral. Please continue to keep her and the rest of the Morris family in your prayers.
so sorry to hear that.

MY HEART IS HEAVY
Those that know me know that I seldom post on any forum, but I feel led to post on this one today. I met JOE MORRIS when he was in his early twenties. He was the same then that he was on his last day. Joe was a fine example of what we all should be. He was honest, sincere, friendly, even tempered, knowledgable, and respectful of others. As a Master of Hounds, I called on him often to judge a cast and he always did a good job. He did not like to judge but did what was asked without complaining. When Joe finished a cast early, he often would come back to the club house and shoot the breeze with me. I will miss those conversations the most. My heart is heavy for those of us left behind but not for Joe as I know he is in a better place today. I know that Joe is looking forward to us joining him in HEAVEN and I plan to join him there. How about you, are you going to join Joe and I in HEAVEN for the greatest hunts of all. GOD BLESS JOE'S FAMILY and I thank them for sharing JOE with us.
Joe's friend
