Here is a video of Champion Lakeland's Curly Sue, Champion Lakeland's Lucky Penny's mother. She origionally came from Randy Gibson's kennel. She treed me a bunch of coon and threw some nice pups.

I recently bought some new hardware and software for my computer that will convert my old VHS tapes into digital files. So, I plan on spending the bad winter days editing video clips of some of my old time dogs.
This video is a random draw video I made around 15 years ago of 2 good females I had here at my kennels. Grand Nite Champion Pine Hill Missy was a cold nosed, track dog style of coon dog that usually had a coon when she treed. She had a littermate sister that won a lot of PKC money in the South. Dual Grand Champion Campus Creek Dolly was a medium nosed coon dog with a lot of track speed and could usually be called on her locate.
This video only contains them treeing but I have the whole sequence from strike to tree on tape. It would be too long for the Internet.
I know some of you guys don't care for Internet videos of coon dogs but I figure some of you are stuck inside or stuck in an office and may enjoy seeing and hearing some good coon dog work.
http://s3.beta.photobucket.com/user...?sort=3&o=0
I will be making oldie but goodie videos all winter and plan to post a few. I also will be adding some current coon dog, squirrel dog, and beagle videos. I don't go to the woods with out a camcorder in my pocket

Here is a video I made about 10 years ago or so. I am trying a new video storage provider, so I hope it works OK.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xwep6v ... pper_sport
Both dogs in the video made Nite Champions, my friend John Hays of Iuka, Illinois finished Bam Bam III and my friend Tom Edwards of Campus, Illinois put some wins on Pepper that finished her. Bam Bam II was just a good coon dog that could win a cast because he was a pretty good dog. Pepper was special and I belive she could have won some bigger hunts if she would have had a chance. I never was much of a competition hunter. Pepper really did well on the cold, frozen weather in January. She could tree coon other good coon dogs didn't know was around.

Notice the extra loud mouth Lou has. In the first segment, she was hunted with Grand Champion Nite Champion Maddy Gee's Roofus, who had an extra loud mouth also. Ranson's Bam is a half brother to Roofus' mother. They carry the same genes that produce the big mouth.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xwr2i7 ... -bam_sport
The video was taken over 10 years ago in the winter with obvious crusted snow. The chase ended up in a den tree like they often do in the winter.
Both hounds were top of the line dogs with Pepper being a half sister to Little Bam's mother.

Here is a video of Nite Champion Haugh and Postell's Buddy II. He was out of the Nite Champion Timberstar Buddy/ Dual Grand Champion Dickey's Old Sandy cross. A notable littlermate was English Hall of Fame Grand Nite Champion Briar Creek Sandy II. I left out the tracking on this video due to time restrictions but Buddy II had a big screaming bawl on the track and put good space between the barks. He was like a lot of the Buddy bred dogs, when he treed, you could go to town for a cup of coffee, he would be there when you got back. He could have been much more than what he was as far as a competition dog and a stud dog.

Here is an oldie but goodie. This video is a copy of a copy and has poor audio and video quality. But, the dog's abilty was great. Ruby was a daughter of Thunder Bingo and was a littermate to Nite Champion Campus Creek Ginger and also Grand Champion Nite Champion Coon Sackin' Sandy's and Sam's mother. She is one of the few I made Nite Champion. Sam is a littermate to Coon Sackin' Sandy and I think had 3 wins towards Grand. If a hard competition hunter owned Sam, he would have easily finished as a Grand.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xx...-and-ruby_sport
I will come up with better Ruby and Sam videos in the future.

Here is a dog from my past, Grand Nite Champion PKC Champion PKC Texas State Champion Crooked Creek JR.. Old "Junior" was a special hound. If he barked 3 times, he would show you where the coon went and if he rolled it over on the tree, that was where the coon went. I had other very good dogs when I had Junior and I often hunted Junior after hunting other dogs early or late in the season when the tracking was tough. He could consistantly tree coon other good dogs could not smell. I occasionally hunted Junior in competition. On the early coon, other dogs might be able to compete. But, late in the cast, the cream would rise to the top and Junior would tree coon other dogs didn't know was there. He was one of the best I ever hunted with.
http://youtu.be/KD7fnnJi2dE
The video is real old and the quality is not good. The dog power was great.

JR's sire was Dual Grand Champion Sugar Creek JR and his dam went to to Blue Boy II several times. I figure he got his nose and honesty from the True Boy (Sugar Creek JR) side.

Here is a video of a great English from the past. His name is Dual Grand Champion Clemons Irish Red Buck.
http://youtu.be/QeM7_vKErK8
Buck was another great English out of Dual Grand Champion Clemons Treeing Bam Bam. The thing that seperated him from some of his Grand Nite Champion brothers and sister was his super cold nose and superior tracking abilty. He was great on frozen ground and crusted snow. Buck could consistantly tree coon other top coon dogs could not smell. We reckon he might have got his nose from his paternal grandsire, Bob's Cloumbo, who appeared on both sides of his pedigree. Buck was something special.

These dogs were split treed and apparently Pepper's coon bailed out and she caught it while we were on the way to the tree. All the time Pepper was fighting the coon, Daisy held her tree with the meat. To me, this tape shows some very impressive dog work, typical of this line of dogs. I got to hunt Pepper and Daisy together alot, they were a real pair of coon dogs.

Dave,
Do you have any video of Lewis' Thunder Penny (the one Gary called Bean)? I've heard good things about her my whole life from hunting with Gary a lot and was curious if any video is out there. I saw you had a sister's video up.
I don't think she was bred too many times but she did throw GRCH NITECH Coon Sackin Sandy, CH Lewis Oilpatch Buddy, CH NITECH CH Timberstar Sam, CH Burkett's Little Wendy, and NITECH Lakeland Maggie in one litter when bred to Timberstar Buddy. I wish I could have hunted with some of those dogs cause I'd say that was one really nice litter.

Yes, Paul, I have a little bit of Lewis' Thunder Penny somewhere. I have already posted video of Nite Champion Lakeland's Ruby and will soon post some video of Nite Champion Campus Creek Ginger, both of these females were littermates to Penny. I will post Thunder Penny's video when I find it. I just digitally converted a video Gary and I made one night where Gary was hunting Captain Video and I was hunting Diamond, a son of Buddy and Ruby. Video was a son of Buddy. I believe Gary had over 200 points on Penny but never had a 1st place. Gary was a little hard hearing from working in the oil fields and as you know, very honest, and I am sure Gary may have placed higher with Penny if he could have heard her a little better and called her a little quicker.
I have a nice video of Coon Sackin Sandy (she has a son on the English Historical Reproducer's List), Timberstar Sam, and Lakeland's Maggie I will post. Sandy had 4 wins toward Grand Nite, Sam had a couple, and I think Maggie may have had some wins towards Grand Nite. I never was much of a night hunt man and all of these dogs deserved more titles.
I still keep close to the same bloodline and I will be getting a pup out of a grand daughter of Ruby that is now a week old. The sire is Ranson's Bam and carries a lot of Buddy blood also.
Here is the video of Sandy, Sam, and Maggie.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kC4K1Fj5McU
P.S. I see your uncle Jake in Neoga and he said he is ready for Black and Tan Days.

Thanks for posting that video Dave, it is really neat. All three of those dogs have good "male-dog" mouths like I like. As far as the mouth is concern you can't hardly pick the male from the two females. I also like how Sandy stayed back out of the way treeing on all four most of the time. That is hard to find in a hard tree dog like that but I like it.
I think what hurt Penny from making Nite Champion was Gary's work schedule. As you know he worked 7 days a week on the drilling rig, all second shift. The only time he got to competition hunt her was in the dead of winter when the oil field was shut down. I know he always speaks real highly of her as well as other great English dogs he's owned. He was real big on the dogs out of Timberstar Buddy and by watching this video of pups out of him I can see why.
Jake has been ready for the next hunt in Flora since the Bluetick hunt got over with. He really enjoys working the kitchen and does a great job at it too. I'll be down there for it and the Purina Nationals. Hope to see you at one of them or both.

I have some videos with Gary and others with Skyler Wiley on them also. Plus, on the beagle board, there is thread called Getting It Done Right with a video that has Emil Stanfield on it. Skyler and Gary are and Emil was some of Frances Gail and I's favorite people out of all of the coon hunting folks we have met over the years. Of course, your dad is a favorite also.
We are hoping Frances Gail can attend some of the hunts at Flora this year.

Dave,
Have you ever considered writing a book about all the dogs you've had or hunted with and hunters you've met and all the casts you've been on? With all the years you've been hunting Coonhounds, Beagles, and Squirrel Dogs I think you could write a pretty entertaining book. I'd buy one.
Thanks again for the videos. I've watched about all of them. Lots of neat history there that needs to be preserved.
I've never hunted English dogs much but if I did I'd be looking for one that goes back heavy to Timberstar Buddy. Between you and Gary I've heard a ton of good things about dogs out of that line.
