Why?? All they do is kick some lest you break a twig. I like to shoot dead myself but I don't care if a 5month pup dives in with agood dog . If he gets bit he backs uo and dives back in before he finnishes quiting kicking. I'm not a great shot but a fairly good shot.My pups are not Bear dogs put they are not chicken ____ either. Have you ever noticed that a decent leash has a snap on both ends of it? IE a coon goes thud, and you unsnap a tied back dog/pup by the collar. WHY????? Why don't you undo the end tied to the bush And let hin drag the string into the tussle? That way , in case the dogs want to get in a tussle with each other the second the coon quites kicking all you got to do is reach down and grab the string?? You ain't got to stick a bare arm in he middle of a dog fight. A pup thinks he did a world of good whippin a coons ass no matter how bad he gets ate up , but It's diffferent for a pup from a trained dog , which has evry right to be Dominant to put him in his noaccount learning place.

i got me another cricket, the other one i could come more near throwing it up there and knocking the coon out then shooting it out.i got me another one and i can hit with it,but the best thing about it is its light.

with that old cricket,i would shoot at a coon so many times that the air was filled with smoke,i had to wait a few mintues until the air was clear and go into shooting again.i think i bent the barrel on it sometime or another, i would throw the thing up a bluff so i had 2 free hands to climb up with.they are tough little guns and they are lite enough to throw up a bluff if need be.lol

I had one shot three bullets, a 6 volt nightlight, and charger, a 2 month old Hickory Nut Harry NOT the Stylish one , the good one, pup , and a hundred dollars when I was very young and dumb for a six month Gold Creek Mundo 6ix month old pup that would cranck it up on a cage coon, Hallelujah , get me excited.. Even swap, LOL That thing had his three strikes with me and he was out for chasing deer. I traded him to an old deer hunting dog running hunter Uncle of mine for a 50 foot roll of extra heavey duty chainlink fence wire he likely stole off a jawb site. Directly, I axed my old Unkle "whats wrong? " He told me that dang dog started to treeing coons in the mid day in the middle of the drive so he "gave" him to a "coon hunter".. What????? Now you tell me,? who is the stupidest moran you ever heard of? Anyway , 30 years later, I still got my main pen is that roll of heavey duty chain link so I am satisfied.

The way I got that2 month old Harry pupw as I traded even steven for him a two yer old wlaker that was independent back in '80. I hated that devil. I hunted all the time with my buddy that had a blue ticked up dog. HE would never get treed with her. My buddy and his brother hunted with me but they would go a few hundred yards to their dog and I would be left to go a mile and a half to my fool by my lonesome wading across gater ponds l. So I traded even for that Harry pup. The man what had the pup had got high up on the Grand Amercan but he did not win it, so, when I offered to trade Independent ( we did not call them Indeoendent way back then, we called them DEAF anD Dumb and Stupid back then before that kind got popular. LOL even for a pup, what he did was jump all over that offer. Independent fool went hunting by hisself and got runned over on US Highway 21 about 10 miles south of the fairgrounds where the Grand American was and is held. I still can't stand a dog that won't honor a dog that gets a coon going. But I am a dying breed. I'll tell you about what all I traded to get that so callled coonhunter my uncle gave him to in the next eppisode.LOL. and then what i had to trade to get my Hickory Nut Harry pup back, That never won jack but never left my pen for six years till he died from eating 4 oclock flower bush seed and it killed him.He never won anything mostly cause he was never in a comp hunt cause I figuredsome fool would offer me a price i could not turn down and i have always needed extra money.

them independent dogs seems like are harder to train.a man gave me a young dog that was very independent,i hunted hard and got him to treeing, but i never liked him much. the track had to be really hot before he would run a coon,in places where theres alot of coon he might have been the next best thing, but around here a dog cant always get a good hot track to run,so its better to have at least a medium nosed dog or you might not get a bark at all. my cur pup is independent when it comes to hunting,he hunts the same by hisself or with other dogs but he will back another dog on the tree.i have the same amount of use for a independent dog as i do a dog that want come back when you turn em loose.lol

10/22 and stingers= big medicine for large coon. Even a bad shot is fatal.
