lyle i hunt year around no matter how hot or cold it gets,so i just fill up their bowl and they seem to stay in good shape. my wife works for a vet so she buys the dog feed from there.all i know about it is that theirs a picture of corn stalks with a ears of corn hanging off it on the bag,and my wife thinks dogs are people so she wouldnt let me feed just anything to her kids.lol
I see that! I got a temp that kind of wonders whether she would rather cuddle up with me or adog in the bed> LOL she won't have to wunder long, I'll promice myself that. LOL Anyway , you can put some clay in the feed . OR you can put some kalin clay in the yard and put some scraps on top of it. Out of all these hyar dog feed Chefs worlds I ain' t yet seen any dog that would rather eat thier concoction than my leftover scraps LOL That clay will tighten a turd up right now. MY girlfriend is right now having the squirts cause she could not have solid food after supper according to the prescription to clean her out. I hope it works on her head too. Got to take stuff that gives her the squirts because she is having an invasive proceedure done tomorrow so I am out here messing with you 'stead of in there messing with her. I know the difference between an exit and an entrance.
I think it is a great place to talk about it. We have a group of men and women with the same interest . They are labeled well and if you dont want to read them don't click on them. I enjoy hearing what gdawg and llyle have to say. Some of it is even funny. So let them talk about it. There are still plenty more post about silent mouth, babblers, slick treeers, top stud, just needs put in the woods with some coon shot out post.

Next policy question, Why do people think that simply because a dog is 'granded out' it automatically becomes breeding material?
You want never know till you breed to him.

him.
Because the people who own the female are usually the one doing the looking.

Doesn't running stud ads in every possible venue qualify as "looking"?
Nope, it's called advertising. It's kinda like the campaign , you tell people what they are looking for and hope they beleive it, if so, somebody is going to get bred.

Aren't advertisers "looking" for customers?
Nope they are doing it as a service to our country and the betterment of coonhounds all around the world.

So, in an attempt to get back on topic, let me revise my original question. Why do people assume that a dog (male or female) is breeding material simply because it is "granded out"?
Because it sound better than saying this dog I own has been owned by every DJ in west tn, they all said he would hunt, but I ain't never been able to keep him off of deer long eneough to see if he would tree a coon but I know for sure he is fast, and he has one heck of a mouth, I heard him at just over a mile last night, he carries very dominant genes because he won't even let another dog get close to him without whooping him. I thought about selling him but if you want to breed that good female of yours to him , I would do it fer a pup. We may have to muzzle him though cause he is some kind of mean. He is registered but I don't think the papers are really his, cause he has been owned by about ten different people and it only shows he is a year old. I think he would throw some good pups as long as he don't pass on this red mange. Lol

How do you win enough hunts to put any kind of a title on a dog like that?
To answer your question, if they think their dog is a good stud based on the simple fact that the dog has made grnitech and has never been bred before they are only making an assumption, because untill the dog has been bred to several females and those pups get into the hands of somebody who will hunt the pups, you will never know if they are good reproducers. But I would breed to that grnitech before I would breed to the dog that I described above.

Harley,I agree wholeheartedly, but it seems as if the title is the whole selling point, especially for the stud.
show
I think a dog should be obident at a show sit when told
Thanks for joining in, Mike. Is this something you would like to see a U.K.C. policy change about, or just a pet peeve?

Are you saying that a lot of the 'studs' out there are actually 'duds'?
I own a dog of of one of the most advertised studs out there. Her mother as an awesome dog also, or so I have been told, never hunted with either dog, I talked with the owner of the stud and the owner of the dam and made my decision to purchase . Both men where very well known in the coon hound world and both men appeared to be honest, the pup was healthy and well taken care of. Both the stud and dam were titled . My pup was an early starter and she is a natural, thank God because I sure don't know what I am doing. I am pleased with her. I drove seven hours to pick up the pup . I said all of that to say this. I ran into a man yesterday who was hurting for money , he talked me into buying a dog he has had for six months, he don't know how she is bred and he was not a hunter, he said she would get loose at night and tree. Said He needed the money, I bought this beautiful healthy dog that was of unknown breeding for $100 dollars with the expectations that she was going to be a dud and I looked at it like I was helping a man in need. We took her last night and she treed three times and is the hardest tree dog I have hunted, every breath tree dog, she did tackle a driller right in front of us but she left it alone and went hunting. The other dogs tree in a hole and she was not with them. I am just as pleased with this dog as I am with the one I raised off of the top stud.

2 coon dogs for sale. 1 white dog. 1 black dog. They both out of coon dog stock.
The white dog has never been coon hunting but looks pretty good on the bench. Thinks he is ready for the nite hunts. He is straight up and has not one bad habit, that can be penned on him. He is very intelligent, but I do believe he might quit a tree and check for other game. Just has too much mouth for me. Price on him is $5000 U S dollars.
The black dog is a fine looking specimen but never been on the bench. He has placed in several nite hunts but has never had a first. Thinks he has no major faults, but will babble and do a little back tracking every now and then. Put them both side by side and they will growl and face bark but the black one is just a little bit better because of his time in the brush. You can get him for a puppy price of 250 of what ever currency you presently have.
Dogs for sale go in the classified section, we're talking politics here.
New question. What U.K.C. policy has made the greatest improvement in coonhounds over the years?
