Its the location. How many people on this thread alone said they didnt even go to an RQE because of the location. Usually atleast 2 northern zones have close to, if not more than 100 dogs per zone. Go back and do some research. This year there is only one zone with more than 100 and not a second zone location close to 100.

So your trying to tell us the northern hunters are really just skeered little girls??

If we get one of our dogs threw zones were making the trip from Ohio. Sounds to me Louisiana is more friendly for a cold nosed bluetick

Yep, take all night and tree one coon. You said it I didn't.

The economy is better this year than it was last year and gas isn't any higher so what is left except Location? Look at how many dogs are entered in the Texas Zone. Maybe with the location and the low numbers a Redbone, Bluetick, Black and Tan or Plott has a chance this year. You will always have 100 dogs in the Finals. That is the way that the format works. The decrease in #'s will only be seen in the Zones. I wonder if there will be a decrease in the # of dogs that don't make it through the late round Thursday night? I wonder how many of the guides have buckets set out that they are saving for that round?

i promise you this much. IF a man, women, boy or girl thinks they have a dog with the ability to win the world, then they will be there. enough excuses on location, southerners travel to beloved Indiana and Ohio all the time. Suck it up and drive

Now we can't say UKC is all about the dollar

About every other year, they bring it back 'home' to Indiana or Ohio. The other years they move it to a corner of the coon dog universe. It has not been in the corner of the coon dog south west since maybe 1998. Gotta hand it to the die hards out west. No matter where it is, it is a long way. UKC could make more money by having it every year at 'home', but choose to move it around so everyone has a chance to go every few years.

Who gives a Rats AZZ whether you tree one or ten! Win your cast and keep advancing. Its pretty simple. I have stayed out of this because for the first time in years I am not involved. However I have traveled all over this country to attend HUNTS, ZONES, AND FINALS. Many others from far away have been forced to come to Ohio and Indiana if they wanted to compete and they have done it. So come down or dont. The only far way to determine a world champion is to mave it around the country.
As far as gas and the economy goes some of you are full of bologna. Gas here is quite a bit higher this year than last and the average american family has $4000 less to spend this year than last. I think it is some people just crying and trying to show the UKC what happens when they take out of their back yard, THEY WILL ACT LIKE BABIES! The economy has a lot to do with the hunts period.

Stop the Complaining

Well at least for once the boys down south don't have to drive all the way up north. This bs happens almost every year with where the hunt should be. Heck, i think next year they should have it is Wyoming. That way those boys don't have to drive all the way. No one will ever be happy so if you don't come down you won't be missed. Those that entered and get qualified will have a great time. Can't wait to see ya'll and meet some new people.

I don't think i am all that wrong at all. It is true that us in the south travel to the hunts up north but all the northerners complain about heading south. I don't get it at all. To be honest, I would rather the world be held no further west than arkansas and no further south than Georgia/alabama. but if the die hards have a hound that can win, I suppose most will be there.
