Not at all, i actually agree with 90% of your interpretations. I just find that a strictly literal aplication of the rules sometimes contradicts the INTENT of the rule.

It's in rule #17

Yes I use this board as a tool to learn alot. It's a good one if you use it correctly.

I agree Jim and that very well might be how UKC interprets it. However its not how the rule is worded. We all know what a squall sounds like and smacking your lips isn't a squall. So can it be deemed as interference to a dog that you walked out of hearing from?

I have a question.. Since it was not questioned at the time it happened should the question have been accepted?

What was the formal complaint? Was it against the Moh or what?

That is the point. The MOH should never have accepted the question in the first place.

So if the MOH. refuses to hear the ? dont we still end up in the same place? the guy files his formal complaint and we wait on UKCs. ruling

AMEN!
I get a kick outta these yahoos that wanna hardnose you for chirping your lips...most of the time they re lacking dog power and shouldn t be there anyways...

RULE 17 says squalling. jim, your comment on making a coon look is bullcrap. UKC needs to seriously look at some of these rules.

The question should have been right there as soon as you made a peep, not after the meat was scored....nothing will come of it

I agree that if we are at your tree and mine is 50 yards away treed or on track you can blow your heart out the whole ten I don't care.

Don't you have to return to the MOH if the ? involves dogs being scratched?

It's a dumb rule, punishes a dog that has first tree. Just do like PKC and you can squall anytime.

Yes you do and if the judge put a question on the card about the squalling and did not question the fact that he questioned the call too late, the cast would have to return to the club before finishing. It sounds like this cast could get thrown out to me.

I agree 100%. It also causes a lot of time to be wasted, especially when the leaves are on. Can't tell you how many times I've seen guys shine for just a minute or two and then turn their light off waiting on the 7 minutes to expire.

No.
There are situations explained in the Advisor where a scratch question DOES NOT have to come back before the hunt is completed. It is not a hard, fast rule as most think it is.

The reason we didnt return immediatly to the club. The judge who was a young guy that i have drawn out with in the past and found to be honest and fair turned over the card, read the section on (dogs will be scratched) and found nothing pertaining to this situation so he decided we would finish the hunt and he placed the guys question on the card. My thinking at that point was this guy is a real piece of work and if he was gonna try and pull this to get rid of us he should have done it earlier when we were back shining his tree. It must have taken this character a little while to come up with the idea because after we scored his tree and then my tree he complimented my dog on the split and then we proceded to walk a couple hundred yards back toward where we had last heard the judges dog.

This is a typical UKC cast!!!!! Hunt PKC

Posted by john Duemmer on 07-24-2012 12:25 PM:

Can anyone who has been involved in the formal complaint process fill me in on how UKC. handles these? Do they contact all the cast members for their side of the story or just the MOH. and the judge?

John, I was in a cast at the Zone last year where a handler got scratched for popping his mouth and clapping his hands before the seven was up. The MOH called UKC and they upheld it. Your only salvation might be that he questioned it after you scored the tree. Tom

Ukc won't even dig any further because the question was not put on the card at the time of the "alleged" infraction. When I am master of hounds or sitting on a panel first question I ask is,"When was it questioned?" and "What was the outcome of the vote of the cast members when it was?" I know of a formal complaint last year that got thrown out because it was questioned after the fact.
