Also if you hang around long enough and let the judge fill out the paper work sometimes they will take the time to help you and give you a few tips on the bench.

ok thanks for the info! appreciate it

Practice, Practice, practice! That is the most effective way for your dog to get used to being on the bench and being comfortable/easy to work with. Repetition is key. Get her up there a couple times a day every day, and she'll likely to much better for you come show day. Good Luck!!

This is a female we used to have, got hit on the road...

Thanks! She was super super hyper, and very hard to get to stand still like that lol, a lot of times it will help if you exercise your dog before you practice with it. Kind of burn some energy off so they can actually understand what you're trying to do with them.

yes thats my problem. my female is only a year old so she is very hyper. ive taken her for a walk before i try to work with her and that seems to help. if i get her straight out of the kennel she is to hyper to work with and she dont want to stay still.

It also helps if you exercise them if they are hyper before working them on the bench. Get rid of some energy so they can pay attention.

the bath room and get its attention after running it is not going
to show you what it has.

That's a beautiful English dog, Chuck. One of the best built dogs on this thread, IMO, especially if he looks even better on a bench!

Believe it or not, I have a grade English dog in my deer pack that is almost identical to this guy. I always thought she had pretty color...like someone else said, I haven't seen too many others colored up that way before.

We have pleasure and comp hunted for awhile, but never showed. My fiancee has recently taken intrested in showing. For weeks now she has practiced and practiced with this dog . I don't know if she is quite on her toes enough. But just with the practice and reps she is already holding her stance and head. Not her tail yet. But just good to see such improvement from the hard practice
