While I am pleased there is a playoff system coming, I figure it came about "now" as a response to the SEC domination of football over the past few years in general and last season in particular.

We can't have what happened last year happen again right? A non-conference champion winning the national championship? Noway! Well, it won't happen after the new playoff system is put into effect (at least as I understand it).

Heck, they had to do something! If they hadn't screwed Arkansas out of their rightful 3rd ranking last year the whole year would have been lost for the "also rans" (Non-SEC teams).

I think it would be simpler for everyone involved if we just proclaimed the #1 SEC team as National Champion and just let the rest of the country fight it out for 3rd or 4th or something.

How delusional. Last years game was a joke and the entire country knew it. SEC has what it has because it has been put into place the last several years that an sec team will be playing for the title. So that tells me every year they should have a 50% chance to win it before the season even takes effect.

We had the two best teams in the NCAA playing each other. I can understand the rest of the country being frustrated though. We had already seen that game. But, they were the two best teams. Really though, no matter who played Alabama or LSU or even Ark, weren't we just picking the 1st loser? No other team could stay on the field with any of those guys. I feel your assessment of the SEC's chances of winning another national championship any given year are way off. The real number is probably close to 90%. Having superior football teams just makes it easier to reach the title game.

Granted, there are some other good teams around the country that are pretty good and have an amazing advantage in that they do not have to play in the SEC with other good teams. Somehow they always find a way to lose to a mediocre team at some point during the season though. It's a mystery to us here in the SEC.

This is what I was getting at in a previous post. The playoff system will not allow that to happen again. If I understand correctly, a team that does not win its conference will not be allowed in the playoff. This was an obvious attempt to hamstring the SEC and allow lesser conferences a chance at the title.

As a SEC Hater, I don`t care if the SEC gets 3 teams in the playoffs, just as long as that other team is Ohio State! You SEC guys kill me with that conference crap. I know, if your team sucks, you can always jump on some other conference team to hang your hat on! GO BUCKS

Kentucky will suck again IMO. I just hope we are either bad enough that Joker gets fired or good enough we get 6 or 7 wins and sneak into a lousy bowl game.

We're actually pretty good at most sports, football just isn't one of them. Womens basketball was ranked top ten for most of the year, Baseball was ranked #1 for a while this past year. Gold and Tennis are both top 25 for the last few years.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade our basketball program for anything but I would like to have at least one good run at football in my lifetime.

You have me there. If my team sucks there is usually another in the conference that is national champion. LOL

Think about how much more interesting college football would be if LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, etc, etc, etc, were in separate conferences.

Maybe next the rest of the country can get together and somehow get the SEC divided on monopoly charges. LOL

LOL How many decades has it been since OH st beat an SEC team????????? Last I remember they got there Guts stomped out the last Couple times they faced an SEC opponent! One of them was by your coach you have now! Oh ya OH st had to go to the SEC just to find a coach to start winning again! Haha

Let me edumicate you! Don`t you remember the 2010 Sugar Bowl, against Arkansas? Kicked em all over the field, until Tressel ball took over. And the deal with Urban Meyer, he is from Ohio, and the Buckeyes was his dream job.
