-- Help with a jumping dog... (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928255851)

I think its monkey see monkey do !!!!!

Posted by john Duemmer on 07-05-2012 10:11 PM:

I think 90% of em are man made. People just cant stop haulin a coon in a cage up a tree so their 3 month old pup can jump at the tree and bark cute for a video. What they are doin is trainin a tree jumper.

If you dont think a jumping dog at a tree or a face barking dog at a tree will cause a fight then you aint been around hounds to much my friend.. ((((WILL CAUSE A FIGHT 90%)))) OF THE TIME!!!! AND AS FAR AS THE PAD LOCK GOES ITS A DA*N GOOD IDEA...IT ISNT BEATING THE DOG, ITS THE ((DOG)) CORRECTING HIM/HER SELF EVERYTIME THEY JUMP.

Posted by J.R on 07-06-2012 02:46 AM:

i have been hunting this dog for 2 years and have had no problems FRIEND. and no i havent been around dogs long only 22 years let me clear this up he jumps once he sees the light , if your dog cant handle that he probably shouldnt be in a hunt anyways, your dog must be a little touchy

as far as carrying a lock and chain to the tree ,dont u think they will get wise to that just like a shock collar?

well my dog will jump and he trees 125 barks a minute so does that tell u how much he jumps. i will take jumping rather than some track straddler. or a dog that babbles, or face barks

Posted by Lee Currens Jr. on 07-06-2012 03:12 AM:

dont be thrown those # out on here they will have a lock and
chain on it imagine what would happen the 1st fence it tried
to jump.i guess if its slow motion enough you could get to
it quick enough.lol what will they come up with next.

CHUCKLE CHUCKLE SNORT SNORT - Thats funny right there I dont care who You are ! Im gonna try the long loop lock trick as a last resort mine will start jumping when she sees my light but far enough the cast will put two minutes on her and shes done barking if solo or split just jumps . Shes probably destined for a dirt nap but Im gonna try it . Shes a real coon getter . This started recently . She was trained 100% solo went from coon machine then slick treeing idiot or squirell treer then back to coon getter now this . I cant wait to see whats next lol . I been too stubborn to admit defeat haha but getting close .

Ok, I'm kind of straddling the fence here because I think if tree jumping causes fights then it is probably the temperment of the hound not treeing that is off. Now, for you guys that have used this lock trick, don't you have problems with it getting hung up on trees, holes, or brush piles? I would love it if my hound would never jump again when I get to the tree, but I'm not about to sacrifice an accurate hound that I wouldn't trade for nothing just because she has an undesireable treeing trait. This isn't meant to cause an argument just wondering in case I actually try this.

You better stick with show dogs, it's obvious you know little about training hunting dogs.

A chain or lock is put on the dog only when it's treed not left on while it's hunting

A larger percentage of people holding the lead need culled long before a hound that is accurate and jacks a tree.

I don't care if it never misses a coon. I can not stand a jacker.
