How are you going to send a dog back to the truck for jumping? Are you kidding me. How long are you (as a judge) going to sit there and wait for "trouble" to happen because a dog is jumping? If your a judge you walk into the tree first, make sure all the dogs that are called treed are treeing and tell the handlers to handle them. I have never seen a dog sent back to the truck for something as ridiculous as this and hope I never will. Does this mean all those "loose treeing" dogs that meet you 10' off the tree should be minused for coming off the tree? How far dog you want to take it? Thats why there is a thing called common sense.

Rule 6 (b) covers fighting or attempting to fight. 6 (c) defines attempting "when dog(s) are interfering with other dog(s) during the authority of the judge by agressive behavior." So in this case are they two different things? In the situation I decribed I would want dog "a" out. But by the rules 6(b),6(c) would I have the authority to do it?

I said fussin I ment face barkin. They were not fighting. If it were a fight I would agree with you 100% but in this "lets say situation" it was face barking. What page in the advisor lays out what you said? Page 27? What I'm shooting for here is: If the judge while walking into the tree hears this going on, thows his light on them to see. He sees this before they get close enough to handle the dogs. By the rule 6(b),& (c) does the judge have the authority to scatch dog "a"

Trouble in Paradise

I want mine to still be at the tree when I get there no matter what is going on. I don't like most of the "undesirable" traits listed so far. But my hound had better be there when I get there, or they will get a new address. This beginning to sound like a lot of excuses for why " I never saw my dog do that before". None of the items listed is reason for a hound to not be treed. Nor much of a reason to scratch. Again there have been a lot of undesirable traits listed. But not enough to scratch. Dog power makes most of them go away. It's hard to beat a dog that runs and trees a coon every time you let it go. Get that and the rest is secondary.

Many of your comments are right on, I thought JohnD especially summed it up well. I personally don't consider jumping at the tree to be dog aggressive. I personally wouldn't think a dog moving around the tree (shouldering?) as long as he's looking up is being dog aggressive. Face barking is. If it's interferring with the other dog's ability to do their job then it's a scratch. If not, score the tree and turn them loose. Carry on, you guys are doing good.

What happened to all the sugar cookies and who brought that nasty old fruitcake??? Tank!^%$!

Todd what about the dog that continually runs the tree and falls on the other dogs? The other dogs will only take it for so long. It is a fight waiting to happen who fault is it when it does.

I'm with Mulberry Blue on this one. I don't care what a dog is doing around my dog, he better stay there. Sounds like some people are lacking some tree power and may have gotten their feelings hurt. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely will not put up with an aggressive dog that all it wants to do is fight. I've seen dogs come out of the box all hackled up looking for trouble. Thats a pretty good hint as to whats gonna happen when you cut loose and they get treed. Thats a little different than a couple of HARD treedogs banging off each other for all their worth.

Phillip, I already tried that angle with Todd LOL. I hate a jumping dog but Todd's official response on that thread was that jumping is not an "agressive" behavior and since it is not agressive it doesn't meet BOTH parameters of the rule.

So, if dog C jumps up and lands on dog B, and dog B tears into dog C then dog B is scratched for fighting and dog C stays because jumping is not agressive but fighting is.
