i would have to go back to the english breed.and then plott, redbone
I think if i couldn't hunt plotts i'd have to go with catahoulas. Heck i'd have to pick them over most of the strains of plotts out there today.
If we couldn't have redbones- we would go back to the breed that Rob hunted all of his life until he met me- which was the Bluetick.

I own and hunt English and hunt alot with Walkers, so if I couldnt own an English I would like to own a Redbone. It just takes me back to the movie Where the Red Fern Grows and how Billy had his two redbones....

I hunt walkers, Clover bred (Lone Pine) seem to work well for me. Not always pretty but I hunt them at night and don't kiss them LOL.

THIS one's EASY!
I like nice hounds of ANY breed. If they are built well and have fantastic voices and desire to coonhunt they will do. I DO want to like the way a dog looks, don't want to show it. I PREFER Blueticks.... NOW- this is EASY for me, because I could switch breeds and STILL get my prefered color.
A coondog is a COONDAWG.... color or markings you like are just a bonus. I see MANY fine looking hounds on here in every variety.
SO, here I am a Bluetick lover and .... I'd switch to ENGLISH!
Happy Hunting, Heather William

Well....
If there were no Plotts I'd get me a Albert bred Black n Tan.
Before I got a Walker I'd consider becoming a golfer! lol.
If i couldn't have a walker then they could keep those dogs nothing but a walker is allowed to be in my yard
Im a Plott lover for life, but my 2nd choice would go to the Redbone. Here's the order I would put from first to last.
Plott
Redbone
B&T
English
Bluetick
Walker

We hunt blueticks and love them. If I couldn't have them I would have to choose in this order: Black and tan, Walker, Redbone, Plott, and finally English.
If I couldnt get another English it would probly be a Walker. I almost took a handling job with one when I started back.
I might try a bluetick, I have saw several I liked.
If I couldn't have my plotts, I think I would go with a bluetick.
