Chawn or TinyIs that the female I think it is? I still have her dad if it is and her aunt and uncle. Patch has Lead in his 4th and Steel and Tempi have lead in the 3rd generation.

Bearman, I am so glad she is doing well. I love the pictures of her you send me. She is looking great too. I might like to get a pup from you so I can get some of that blood back here myself some day. Keep me in mind. Patch is still doing well and having nice pups. Steel has settled down and also still does a really nice job, now that he dose not have to hunt in competition. Tempi is just Tempi, I do have a pup out of her and Patch doing a really nice job. I think she will be the last one from Tempi though. Happy New year to you guys too. and Happy hunting.

Hi Susan. Casey's quite the character!! We're still hoping she'll decide to hunt at night so we can try to put a hunt title on her. She can definitely get it done during the day. (Hmmm, maybe we should do a daytime hunt test with her.)
You've always been at the top of the list for a pup from Casey if you want one, since we weren't able to send you a littermate. We were thinking of breeding her this year but just haven't been able to find the right stud.

I don't know for sure but I think maybe Johnny Watson was Lead's breeder???

Lead was never the main focus of our breeding program. I started out linebreeding on Loud, and obviously you don't get Loud without Lead.
Over the years we've sent a lot of letters, emails, and made a lot of phone calls but we ran into a lot of dead ends with breeders not wanting to ship pups or semen, which severely limited what we had to work with.
We were able to buy several female pups with Loud/Lead breeding that we had hoped to breed to Rebel, but they were never anywhere near as good as what was born and raised in our own kennel. Taz was the only one we raised pups from. It was a mistake we've learned from, but now it's too late to get any of that blood back.
There's no fast, easy or cheap way to drive across the country, and nobody with the blood we were looking for was interested in breeding to a stud in California, so Rebel was only bred to females we owned. (He's sterile now.)

I'm guessing there must still be a few dogs out there somewhere bred close on Lead, but if they don't post on coonhound boards or advertise in magazines or blue books, we don't have much chance of finding them. It's too bad his value wasn't realized sooner, before the pedigrees became so watered down.

Chor's Blue Wheatie, Uchtman's Blue Cheater and Wilmoth's Chelsea Blue were daughter's of Lead that you still see in pedigrees. Dawson's Wolf Creek Judge and Leatherman's Blue Ring are sons that still show up too. Uchtman's White River Chief is being advertised at stud now and he's got Lead at least twice in a 5 gen ped (I don't know all of his ped). Uchtman's So Blue Fly and So Blue Speed were 1/2 siblings sired by Hornet, which puts Lead on top and bottom.

Anyone know what ever happened to Glenn Johnson's Deep South line? They were heavy Lead bred and I'd sure like to find some of them still close in a pedigree.
Just recently saw where Kuszmaul's Blue Thunder was a great grandson of Lead. Any littermates or offspring still around?

It would be awesome if this thread helped find some of those dogs that must be out there. Hard to concentrate this blood in pedigrees if people who know about it don't work together.
