I appreciate the info, did not know that.

I was thinking about this on the way home from work today.
I bet our grandfathers lamented the "new" dogs they were hunting and missed the ones already gone. I think it's simply human nature to want what's gone.

I traveled to Central America a few years ago (Belize) I was amazed at the number of hounds down there. A lot of Jaguar and ocelot hunting took place. There were a lot of coons to and coati mundi's (spelling) and the locals hunted them all. Saw everything from walkers to blueticks to english, no redbones tho and darn sure no black dogs (too hot!)

I talked with one of the hunters quite a bit, no registered dogs just game getters. but they were hounds, no doubt.
It was obvious there was a lot of interbreeding from some of the color schemes. I specifically asked them about packing and split treeing and it was very rare..Their dogs would cover one another..I think that is the thing I see most lacking in todays hounds...Too much hunting for a score and not a coon..And I think the Bozo dogs played a part in bringing that trait into play..Just my opinion and it's not worth a whole lot..

have a good night

I myself like the Bozo line.Typically when they treed, they had the coon. There were a few exception's.They were hard treedog's that had good mouth's.

Bozo is the dog that put independence in the walker breed. Where did he come from, I don't know, but I hunted with plenty of direct offspring off of the original Hickory Nut Harry dog, and rest assured they were not this type of dog. This was before the day of DNA.

ARK you just hit the nail on the head. Old Hickory Hut Harry got his fame from the PROMOTION. Timothy Ball is a very smart man and knew if he bred enough females that some would be GREAT. BOZO was one of the few great ones. Please don't think I am saying anything negative about T. Ball or Harry, just stating the facts as I know them and it Mr. Ball understood completely how to make a name for himself in the coonhound world.

I seriously intend to breed ,Gr NT Ch Cutter Lady to old Patch. Alander the owner of the frozen semen agreed to let me have enough to breed her. Would anyone be interested in a pup. I
Can't quote a price because I don't know what it's going to cost.

BOZO is out of Timothy Balls dog Hickory Nut Harry for those of you that need a history lesson.
We can't have it both ways!!!
Matter a fact between old Harry's offspring and Stylish Harry's offspring I don' think any one man has made more of a positive impact on the Treeing Walker Breed.
Why can't we recgonize good dogs and good dog men for what they are?

OLE BOZO'S MAMA WAS A COONDOG,SHE DESERVE'S ALOT OF THE CREDIT THAT GOES TO OLE HARRY.

I owned a daughter out of Patch ,

a well balanced solid coon dog and easy to train. when you cut her loose check your watch in fifteen minutes if you don't hear her
you better start riding in the direction she headed.old patch would get in the country. she was good looking too.here is a picture of her.

I HAD ONE DIRECTLY OUT OF PATCH AND WICKS BREEDING ON BOTTOM THAT WAS THE MOST CONSISTANT ACCURATE DOG IVE EVER FOLLOWED. OPENED ENOUGH TO KNOW WHICH WAY HE WAS GOING, SET DOWN AND TREED STEADY, NITE AFTER NITE. HE DIED IN 2005 AT THE AGE OF 13 AND I HAVE KICKED MYSELF SINCE FOR NOT GETTING A PUP OUT OF HIM. BOUGHT HIM WHEN HE WAS 6 AND KEPT HIM UNTILL HE DIED, BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT ON A DOG.

SO YES, I THINK BOZO BLOOD IS FANTASTIC. JUST MY .02.

I think Bozo was the most influential walker dog to ever breed a bitch. I am making a cross now that will have a lot of Bozo in the background.

Not saying he had the most influence on the breed by no means, but there are a lot of very popular strains today that would not be here if not for him.
