Grew up in dogs... Showed everything from Lhasa Apso's to sight hounds from Memphis Tenn., where we had German Sheperds, to Southern Cal.where we had Afghans ,Borzoi's ,and Salukies among others.

We settled in Ky where my Father is from and I got away from having a dog when I left home and began to miss having one. And then I met my present wife who's father was a coonhunter. He allowed me to go along one night and his hunting buddy had a pretty good redbone male. We sat up on a hillside in hardwoods, on a moonlite night, and listened to that ole hound named Luke make the prettiest music as he trailed that coon along the banks of a big creek below us. I knew right then that I had found a way back to having a hound again.

[That's right Hobo, It was a Redbone that got us both goin!! /lol ]

That was in 1974 and I 've enjoyed these hounds and coonhuntin ever since.
I quit for a few years on and off but my desire to keep a hound around and the curiosity of the boys as they got older got me going again and I've really enjoyed the last few years hunting.
Having a couple decent old hounds around to hunt helps too!!

I 've been lucky to hunt with some fine oldtimers and have actually been hunting , in the last two weeks ,three times with my father in law's buddy who had ole Luke out that very first night almost thirty years ago. My Father in law and many of the serious hunters from his generation are moved on now but his buddy and I have enjoyed the reminising over past times and "how we got started".
