I am not sure why the cornish taste different. I know that they grow amazingly fast. Very tender.

They come in a little cardboard box and the postman calls me to come pick them up cause they are driving him nuts and the rural carrier won't haul them.

Yes I know the eggs are cheap, heck I give them away. Last week alone I sold 22 doz. and I have about 14 doz. sitting here to box up....if I had the boxes....

When we had a lot of laying hens I would just feed a lot of eggs to the dogs. They love em and I swear they shine more eating an egg or two a day with their dog food.

I live in the City now but ended up getting 4 laying hens.

I decided to go with the Golden Comets. Man those girls can produce some eggs and you don't even know their around.

The Comet is a super quit, friendly, egg laying machine!!!!!

I also decided to get some meat rabbits and am breeding Pedigreed New Zealand White rabbits.

Any of you folks with chickens fooling with rabbits too?

Justin

I raise meat chickens this way. Definately alot less feed and better tasting birds.

Google polyface farms and look at his chicken tractors thats what I do and am doing again this fall.

I noticed you said you were doing it again this fall. Is it because it would be too hot in the summer? I'm concerned about that. Or is it because you won't need more meat till then? Also, I'm sure these will at least start of as layers. Would they need laying mash supplement? I don't know alot about chickens> Haven't had then since I was a boy and sold eggs I delivered for 50 cents. Those 50 chickens had a coup to get in at night and Free Ranged on mama's steps and porch mostly, it semed like to me cause I had to clean it up. They could pick the dangdest places to lay.

My kids just got 25 from local 4H club. Got golden comets. My daughter has to keep records and take pictures as they grow and do reports. It cost $60 for the 1 day old chicks and in Oct she goes and shows 1 then gives 5 back for the poultry sale. If she meets all the requirements they give her $60 back and we have 20 laying hens pretty much for free. We built a 12 x 20 pen and laying boxes for them. They turned 4 weeks old today and we love them. Can't wait til they start laying so I don't have to buy anymore store eggs. Love them fresh eggs.

I have three hens and one rooster, one Rhode island red, a white hen that I'm not sure if but she lays nice BIG brown eggs, a game hen so I could raise some chicks and a game rooster who might be looking for a new home soon as I want a new rooster.
