Well it's like this. A male is XY and a female is XX.

Females only have an X chromosome to give, males can give either the X if it's a female pup or a Y if it's a male pup.

This allows for maternal influence in males because for some things all they have is the leg from the mothers X chromosome (a Y is an X with a leg missing).

That's why hemophelia shows up in males, but not usually in females. Females carry the gene, but it is on the leg that is missing on the males. A female pup has the other leg from her daddy to compensate for the hemophelia. SHe doesn't show hemophelia, but about half her sons will have hemophelia because they don't have that extra leg to counterbalance the hemophelia.

Well I was Born in 1959 .... They had Overdosed my mother with Eather !!! It took an Hour and a 1/2 for them to Bring her out After I was Born !!

Thats why I now have 35 Hounds !!!!!! lol

I have a great granddaughter to Lipper, This hound will Hurt your ears and she is a super nice hound,Her grampa is Lippers Cade. Loud Loud Loud and smart.

Semen is semen if it wasnt the bitch wouldnt have pups!!!!

Charles , look at Stender's Hawkey Abby and Rose ... both semen pups ... they were both top hounds and producers .

Depends on what the semen gets put in. The semen is only half of the mix you know. Then the pup would have to have the same chance as the sire to be hunted by good hands.
I would say the averages would say no. Just because of the percentages of top bitches bred but if you just counted top bitches bred. I would say the averages would have to be verry high.
To me semen is the only way to go if you have top hounds to breed. If nothing else but for saftey sake.

Wow. We've got Cade I guess. I wonder how many semen pups Rat has now. We all know how much his pups have won in the past. Well some of you might not but its a couple million! Anyhow. Since his death. I've really not heard anything outta any semen pups from him. Good news is. Im going with a semen pup tonight. He just might be the next big thing.

I don't see how Lipper semen could produce much worse than his live breedings, approximately 300 titled dogs out of 5000 pups!!

now you know its not fair to compare reproduction of lipper to current day studs or contemporaries. hunts were longer and there was more pleasure hunters and other stuff. stud dog owners and breeders are two different things. both are needed but shouldn't be confused. also semen pups should be better because i am sure that the females being bred aren't brood bitches. unless someone is a fool they aren't gonna spend good money to buy semen and put it in a worthless bitch. your average joe isn't buying semen nor can afford to. it's expensive to buy semen then ai a female and all the other tests and delivery. plus you can't get 1000$ out of plain jane bred to whatever. most people with that kind of money to buy a pup or dog are picky.
