I don't give a rats tail what they bring. I plan on beating them. Hunt a world champ for all I care.

I also like the idea of a picture on the papers of the dog. Neat idea.

They don't have pics on reg papers, just on earned titles.
I have some reg papers from a German import that will impress the socks off you. Not only the reg for the dog and pedigree, but hip rating, reg name/number/chip ID for EVERY dog in the litter.
Since I compete in many different venues with dogs I see a lot of different things. ALL my dogs are tattood/chipped so there is NO mistakes. They have their reg # tattood on them as little pups, for those who require it (French Ring Sport) the rest get tattoos on them that are in the national database.
No puppy leaves here w/o perm ID! I am doing tatts for a litter of 8 this weekend) It has more than paid for the small expense it costs to do it. I have had people call stating they bought a dog that came from me more than a handful of times. It is so nice to tell them 'sorry, that dog isn't from here, all mine are perm marked'.
I understand chipping being a pain to have as requirement. Nobody wants to pay $120 to buy their own pocket scanner to prove ID. But tarts are cheap and easy. A lot cheaper than $55 DNA testing (which takes a while to get results).
In some of the other venues we buy score books for each dog (lifetime log where scores are kept and judges sign off). Never a question plaguing the registry of how many wins or points a dog has. You sell dog, scorebook goes with.
In tub and can't dig it all out at the moment. But score books have dogs name, registry, reg number/tattoo number, owner, dob, etc. In order to buy one for your dog, you have to submit reg copy to prove reg and ownership.
Right when we enter the field to compete the judge checks the tatt. No tatt. It is not that easy to skate by for long w/o getting caught. Can't steal a dog and slap papers on it when it is tatt w a different reg number very easily (tatts have to be in certain place on dog). Freeze brands don't work, because they are owner specific and not dog specific.
It really is an expense to put photos on cert of titles. Which really does little for ID as dogs can look the same or too similar for John Q public.
Tatts are easy, cheap, and already a spot on reg papers for them. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if it were to ever become a requirement for a dog to compete in any venue.
If breeders are doing the health tests they are spose to...tatt or chip is required as well. It is not that uncommon to have perm ID required on a comp dog or breeding stock.

Titles have always been seen as being only as legitimate as the owner/handler behind those titles. Serious coonhunters know who cheats, who has integrity and who doesn't. I'm not and never have been bothered by false papers, false titles or dogs hunting under false names. My feeling is that it has zero effect on me or my dogs or the titles my dogs earn.

This is what they must mean when they say "PAPERS DON'T MAKE THE DOG"

In my opinion I think if UKC required dna on all dogs reg with them and required swabs taken from random dogs at all events to be sent in with the hunt results, then there would be no question of the kennel clubs integretiy. It would put a stop to this happening instantly and really would'nt cost them that much to do and I'm sure they could make up for it with increased fees. Lol.

Sound like a good way to raise the price of registration to me. Look at what it cost to register PKC. It is a little pricy and then you want to do it at every hunt you enter? That would be very expensive. It is just a sport fellas and sports are for fun. Some people will always cheat, but don't penalize everyone for it. This stuff has been going on for years and always will.

I enjoy going to trade days and when you look at the trade ring dogs it always amazes me how many only have ukc papers. I know that every pup born doesnt get superstaked but when the dog is out of a a male and female that have won some $$$$ odds are they were ss'd at one point but pup was a cull and papers were swapped.
