I agree Central Mo. would be a good place, at Cole Camp in 2010 MCHF final hunt off put 19 cast in the woods fri. nt. . had 19 plus pt. cast winners... I doubt that has ever happened before.... BUT NW LA. is good huntin and you will be treated extremely good..

Shreveport is in the northwest corner of La. close to the Texas line, just south of Texarkana, Arkansas on I-20. It is not in the swamps of La. It is pine and hardwood mixed. There should be a good crop of mosquitoes, cottonmouths, and rattlesnakes to contend with but not many gators. It is not cajun country. ARMADILLOS!!! Pine thickets, barb wire fences, casinos, and bluetick country.....ya'll come on down now, you hear!!!! LOL

Steve, I know you didn't just say "BLUETICK COUNTRY!!!" Isaac will appreciate that.

Yep....I think the folks who leave here in September will be starting posts about the good time they had, and how much they appreciate Southern hospitality. Don't know if you'll get to see a gator in the woods or not, but be sure to eat some...It's good stuff!!

I really dont have a dog in the race so to speak I plan to attend the world hunt just to meet some new friends ( hope all of yall are on that list lol) I am still a young guy only 29 and new to compition hunting but I have been around coonhuntin all my life and have only had the pleasure to hunt in the swamps of south mississippi and south lousiana and I have never been snake bit or had a dog snake bit ( thats why they make snake chaps and boots ) but I have never owned either. I think most of you have the wrong Idea of the location and I am sure when you leave and go home you will have made new friends lol who cant like us good ole southern boys

Although I agree that a good central location would be nice. You might not know it but eastern MO has just as many snakes as north LA. I would just dang near bet you that you don’t even see a snake. Most of you guys have a complete misconception of what north La is. It looks just like Eastern MO with more trees.

Posted by jerrod douglas on 02-02-2012 08:05 PM:

You guys complaining about snakes and gators don't even have a clue. Y'all just listening to people talk and are getting scared for nothing. We hunt our dogs here all year, not worrying about a snake bite, an alligator, or anything like that. More hunting dogs die falling out of trees and FALLING OFF OF BLUFF MOUNTAINS than a snake bite or an alligator.

I have a dog that I turned down $40,000.00 for and I hunt him almost every night in LOUISIANA. If it was that big of danger of an alligator getting him or a snake biting him then I would not hunt him. I have always lived here and hunted here. I know most every coonhunter from LA and I have never heard of a one of them loosing a dog to an alligator.

And for the "too far to drive" complaint , we hunt our dogs year round to get them ready for the world hunt if we are planning to go. It doesn't matter to me where it is. If I am planning to go to it I could care less where UKC decides for it to be. I will be there. Its their business. I have never drove less than 10 hours one way to go to the world and I have never complained.

Keep up the good work UKC. Most people that complain probably wouldn't have been there to hunt in it anyway.

Heres what the Louisiana coonhunters are looking like in February, ya'll better bring plenty of water come September...

Sure, Louisiana seems far away, but I'm still gonna make every effort to be there!
I do agree with moving the location around a bit, making it more accessible to everyone.

boy ive heard excusses an plenty of crying from hunters but this is awfull its allways gonna be something wrong with something somebody or someplace if u dont feel like your dog is able to handle adverse conditions other than the land of milk an honey that your used to to bad.. i really dont blame u ole boys for crying so much every were ive hunted in this great country is better than here. the great thing about hunting here is you best have a honest hard hunting, stay put, able to handle pressure,DOG. LET ME SAY HONEST AGAIN. i can assure you one thing alligators will be the least of your worries. but i will say all you ole boys up north need to goggle armordillo that will be your worry..an oh yea these coons dont tree in the ground!!!!!!!!

I'll second that! last two nights we've had three on the outside and five dens.

My way of thinking if you got to have a carpeted floor, trees just so high and like huntin in back yard, feeder buckets or zoo coons before you feel good hunting your dog in the world hunt...... STAY HOME,, It will be a coondog WLD CH. come from N. LA...

IM SCARED TO DEATH OF SNAKES, ANY KIND! I LOVE HUNTING IN LOUSIANA, ITS SOME OF THE BEST HUNTING PERIOD! IVE TRAVELED THE COUNTRY HUNTING IN PKC/UKC/AKC EVENTS AND FOR ONE TIME ITS IN MY BACK YARD! THIS DOESNT GIVE AN ADVANTAGE TO ANYONE IMO! IF YOUR PACKING A WINNER OR A COONDOG THEN THE TERRAIN SHOULDNT MATTER! IT DONT STOP NORTHERN DOGS FROM WINNING SOUTHERN HUNTS OR SOUTH DOGS FROM WINNING NORTHERN HUNTS ALL YEAR LONG! LOOK IN THE MAGIZINES AND SEE FOR YOURSELF! THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH LA HUNTING, ALOT OF IT IS GOIN OFF ''HEAR SAY THEY SAY'' COME CHECK FOR YOURSELF. OH WAIT YOU HAVE TO GET THROUGH THE ZONES 1ST

Oh here we go with this again.......

It's sooooooo hard to hunt coons in the south thin coon, hot weather, snakes and now even GATORS!!!!! Is CLEAN hunting in the world if so I'm betting on him!!! Besides I thought the guys from swamp people pretty much cleaned out the gators.
