-- Help! Box barking! (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=469222)
from the bloodlines of high strung idiots
problem with no bark collars and shockers for box barkin is the same with any fault you "break" a dog off of with one.
once they aint got it on , they aint broke any more.
if a dog is too dang stupid to learn what it means when i say to shut up, then it aint gonna make it here long.
you guys can have them high strung idiots that box bark and come out of the box like a carp on a cane poll.
loose mouthed half wild idiots,- its bred in faults for comp hunts.
want them all titled up peds and then bitch cause of the bred in faults that come with them.
...............................................but what the hell do I know.

Well said, there's better dogs to be had for the same price. Can't stand a dog that can't figure out what shut up means. Culls!

Another one is a hunting buddy that beats the hell out of the top of my new box when we drop the dogs alone, his still in the box, he yells shut up and slams the top of the box. I told him to let the dog out because I dont want to hear them and I dont want him to have to buy me a new lid.

Ive got a 6 almost 7 year old hound that has been through the shock the beating the break check about anything you can think of and still till this day put him in the truck to go hunting and he will bark all night long. Have given up on the fact of trying to stop it. Turn the tunes up and roll on. Only does it at night durring the day no problem. I think they know were they are going and flat out get fired up. Can only beat a dead horse so much

All my life I wanted to be somebody, now I realize I should have been more specific. I carry a gun because I am too young to die and too old to take an asswhoopin.
I hate to be the weird one, but sometimes a dog barks in the box for different reasons. it could be excited and want to go hunting and that should be corrected with the shocking collar/discipline method.
BUT, if the dog is barking because of box anxiety, or being scared of being in the box, then all shocking and whipping are going to do is make it worse. In this case you have to make the dog realize that the box is a good thing and not a bad thing so it will feel comfortable in the box.
Here's a test.
Take the box out of the back of the truck. Put the dog in the box, usually if he has anxiety issues, that will be enough to make him bark because he's in the box. If it's just excitement, he might bark, might not.
Then another thing, next time he's in the box pay attention to when he starts barking. Does he bark when you are moving? or still?
We had a dog years ago that would bark like hell when the truck was moving. When it was still he was quiet. We put covers over the vent holes and wala. No more barking. We figured either he didn't like the wind coming through the holes or maybe it made a noise that hurt his ears or something.
We also had a male several years ago that had been beaten severely in a dog box. when he got in there he would go to the back corner and just dare you to reach your hand in. if you let him come out on his own he was fine, but he was scared to death to see a hand coming in the box at him because he was afraid he was going to be whipped. it took us weeks, but we got him over it. we started out with petting him as he came out of the box, and then made him go in and come to us and petted him as he went backwards. Several weeks of coaxing and petting and praise and he finally figured out that we were not going to hurt him in the box. Now anyone else, they had to gain his trust too.

EVERYTHING happens for a reason.
If nothing seems to work you just plain and simple have an idiot and should just rid yourself and the breed of your headache. I can't believe a tri tronics can't stop it. You must be letting off the button to quick. I have no patience for a dog barking in the box.
