cant decide
i tried real hard to be a blue man but after seriously considiring shooting several of them and then myself just to save the world a little misery i tried a few walkers. got one that i love but seen a zillion more i would just as soon shoot as turn loose. my walker gyp is pretty close to perfect for me she gets in the dark and strikes quick and honest. can run a track pretty dang good and is very good about passing slicks and treeing the coon even when the rest of the cast doesnt. pretty dang accurate also. she is a hellacious tree dog and would tree next to lucifer hisself. You ain't running her off any tree. but know for the weird part, my wifes leopard. this dog is even closer to perfect. he flat @ss gets in the dark, is deadly accurate, super independent and runs a track with authority. He handles like a dream you never ever need a leash. i swear to god he understands every word you tell him. only thing i dont like about him is he would be a pushover at a rowdy tree. If things get rough I bet he will go fond another just not a mean or even slightly gritty hair on his hide. Good news is he is deep and lonely and has the meat almost every time. If I could combine him and my walker gyp id have a world beater for sure. Still keeping my eyes peeled for that special one in a million blue dog but for now I'll just enjoy a lep that has completely changed my view on the breed and my expectations on what it takes to eat my dog food.

quote:Hidden secret, but that might be the story on leps too. Treed at midnight across the river about 3/4 mile. I went 35 mile back home got a boat and went and got them. The part about check in if nothing walking might be true. The part about quiting a track Hot, not swimming a river is false. Got home at 6 AM.

i rather hunt curs but i got a walker that hunts like one, i dont even have to take a lead with me. only thing i dont like about her is when she trees off the bluff you aint going to call her out, i have to put on my big boy boots and go get her.
lyle i walk hunt my ole walker and she hunt bout right for where i hunt her at, she aint the best but neither am i. i might start tail gate hunting when they start makeing tailgates a lil more less hard. couple weeks go i got home at 10 in the morning, dogs treed off the bluffs, it was to rough for me to get down, i hollerd scream and shot but nothing doing still stayed in the gulf treeing harder than ever. 10 clock rolled around i said to myself ive had as much fun as i can stand. went back the next day my dogs were asleep on my shirt.

I was a Black And Tan man for many years. I went through a lot of them trying to find something that suited me. I was partial to them when I was young too. My Wife's Grandpa steered me in the right direction by getting a pup out of his line. If everything works out I'm done training hounds to tree coon. So far I have two generations of my own that are naturals and are naturally straight.
To this day I don't know how or why I can take a pup to the woods that has never been messed with on a cage coon or a drag and have them just tree coon by themselves consistantly. I have dropped my male within 25 yards of a deer, I didn't know it at the time until the deer started running. My male went another direction. I have had him tree a coon where a possum was sitting on a blow over 10 feet away and he never messed with it even after shooting the coon out of the tree. He could have went and grabbed it off the blow over, but he just left it sitting their. After two years of hunting him he has never treed anything but a coon or ran off game.
I am happy with our family BLUETICKS.
