slick treeing
I have seen this in some dogs over the years. If you have been hunting them all summer and not giving them any coon and then when season comes you start kncking coons out they get the idea any tree with scent on it holds a coon there for they lock up on tapped trees. All you have to do is pull them off a few trees if that don't work cut a switch and run off, if their smart they will figure it out fast. If they quit treeing than you didn't have a tree dog to start with.

My first question would be, what is the temperature, and is there frost where you live? I don't know if this is the problem, but I would consider the tracking ability of the dog during the summer and fall and now that it is colder and tracks are more difficult to tree. I would question the dogs ability to track, hunt him with a dog in your area that can tree a coon consistantly now and see how he operates. If he doesn't have enough tracking ability he will continue to tree slick while the other dog goes on and trees the coon. If he trees slick, let him know that you are displeased, lead him to the treed dog with the coon, tie him back where he can easily see what is going on at the tree. Let the treed dog have the coon and praise him lavishly. Do not let the other dog have a hold of the coon, not even by accident. Go back to the truck and drive to a new location and repeat the process. It may work, it may not, but it takes time. I over- hauled a female like this from a northern state; she was used to "possom treeing" coon and didn't want to track, just tree. She finally came around and placed in the top ten of a world hunt. I just love these slick treeing threads. According to some, I should have shot the best two dogs I ever trained.

Sinus Problem?
One cure that some have used is to give the dog a sinus Clariton clear pill!It may be his sinuses acting up that has caused him to slick tree! Believe it or not, but it has corrected some slick treeers!

did you find the coon sound to me like a cur dog yappin lol
Yes I Killed the coon. I think that is why I find so many coons is because if they look they are dead. They don't get treed over and over and learn how to not look. LOL
I was hoping you could hear the chop tongue pup in the background. He doesn't sound like a cur to me. No matter though, they were all called curs till about three years ago. Now they are called hounds. That little fellow chopped out 100 barks in that 46 second clip by my count.
l.lyle
dont matter what they call them as long as they tree coons and more coons

Leaves off or on. Clariton makes me lazy, sleepy and even more no account. I can't even smell better on it. The only way I smell better is take a shower in perfumed soap they call Bodywash these days.
