Ground Pounding means a dog going to bo yo around half the **** night.... like people say wipeout dogs are ground pounders because a lot of them run and run and run.

Go read the pkc board and read some wipeout threads... that will explain what ground pounding is.

I guess it all depends on the female you breed them to. Thats probably why so many people crossed them on lipper females.

yep,
look like a million dollars one night and crap the next night.

breeding the right female might make the difference but line breeding on something like that dont do anything for me..

i bought a nite champion female direct out of nailor and one night she looked great, the next night she could slick tree with the best of them, looked good sounded good ,

but i cant stand incosistant dogs,i want to see the same or better each night they go to the woods..

she should have made grand nite but the guy that hunted her in the hunts must have got tired of the bad nights...

a friend had a male that was the same ,look like a million one night and run up and down the middle of the road the next like he was lost.

he gave the dog away and it wasnt long the dog had a grand nite title on it,,

i dont trust nitehunt titles just because of dogs like this.too many handler made titles or hunted till they hit the right night in the woods.

i always thought tar rattler was the one that put it the dogs ,glad someone else seen the same thing i seen.

above is the reason rattler fizzed out in the stud pen .
and didnt help by breeding him to lipper female as nailer just past it on down the line to the next gen..

if all you cared about was titles then sooner or later you will get your titles with a nailer bred dog if you got enough wait in you, but i wont breed to another rattler/nailer bred dog if i want to keep one for my personal COONDOG..just my opion

I had a female with a ton of nailor in her and she was exactly like you described. When she wanted to hunt she was great, loved everything about her had a good mouth on track a great locate and was a beautiful belly up treedog. Then there was nights where she would hunt 50-100 yards out and come back after 5 mins I could never understand it.if it weren't for those nights she would still be in my kennel I just could not stand that at all, had to sell her before I shot her. But hopefully she's doing well back in west virginia where she came from in the first place.

my buddy owned rattler and put alot of the wins on him but he will tell anybody rattler was not what he would call a coondog. He was and inconsistant dog and would tree harder than any dog alive.

i had a male out of yadkin river cruze x daughter of rattler .

went to breed him to a female that was ready and backing up to him but he went to her self feeder and when she backed up to him at the feeder he started growling at her,i should have shot him then but,

i gave him to a guy for a treeing contest dog,,
treeing contest dog delux but would whip any male or female that tryed to get on the tree with him.

a friend had a dog out of rattler back in the day on trial that was a coondog but he was bawlmouth on track and also on tree, couldnt tell when he was treed or trailing till he quit moveing,,he tended to "bootic it",lol, too much in the treetops

that dog didnt stay around long..

I got a Nailor bred dog. She isn't the a real hard tree dog by no means. But when you get to the tree load the gun cause you'll see the coon 90% of the time.

90% isnt good enough unless that other 10% is on certifide den trees.holes in the ground.we break them off holes in the dirt unless we can hear the coon breathing back in the hole..

Exactly what you said and if you wanted to wipe out the opussum population they were top notch grinner hounds.
