i was thinking tight mouth dog was a genetic thing
most of the older hunters bred for to stay out of
trouble maybe that is why we now get 125 for the tree.

I do not beleive at all that a tight mouth 3-4th strike dog can not win big in ukc. Most tight mouth dogs seem to be the more accurate hounds. Have a little sence between their ears. Most will be alone somewhere with the meat. Last time I checked a 4th strike and a tree alone with the meat beat the pants offf of 1st and 1st split with a slick. I have hunted lots of tight mouthed 3rd-4th strike dogs and have done winning with them in both UKC and PKC and both 1 hr and 2hr hunts. Strike dont matter if the meat aint in the tree!
