Dale, that is why I like nite hunts. You never know who is going to win, regardless of who has the "best" dog. Anyone with a good dog can win on any given night. Anything can and will happen in a night hunt. You always feel like you have a chance. With bench showing I always knew who was going to win before the show by which dogs were there. And it usually wasn't me. Some dogs, I just couldn't beat.
What if, after they drew the dogs out for a night hunt, they had an independant judge who "decided" who had the best dog and "declared" them the winner?

I hear ya, some would say the best dog in a show had nothing to do with who wins either.
