Hey Kaleb

Boy, I bet you didn't plan on getting this much info on your North Star Blues. Old Jerry needs to get on here and read this stuff for himself. He would get a kick out it. Talk to ya later.

Yep Brad, Nun is enjoying her little vacation we took her one time by herself and treed a coon. Then we took her with kitty and they treed a coon.

Posted by Brad Phillips on 03-01-2005 02:23 AM:

One on one time with Kitty will be great for her. Seems like Frost cramps Nuns style a little or something. We even took young Bernie out last Sat. Tell Rex I said hello.

Jerry Sitlow is from Somerset WI, Which is located in west central wisconsin right along the minn. border. I'm sure jerry would be interested in breeding one of his dogs. The ones he has are bear and coyote dogs, but they will tree a coon off a bear bait just as fast as anything. All of his dogs are excellent cold trailers and all rig from the box. I'll give jerry a call tonight and see what he thinks. i would definetly be interested in a pup. what is the bottom side of your femalee breeding. Jerry has pointed oppy out as a dog that i should think of breeding to. Its kinda of funny because i was thinking the other night (which is kinda scary)lol and iwas thinking of breeding my JetV bred female to one of jerry's and hope that a got a good female to cross on oppy.
but i'll get back to you. thanks

try Oppy

you won't be disappointed.

My dad has known Jerry Sitlow for 25 years and he's had top notch dogs every since my dad has known him. My dad bred his Sarah female to Jerry's Yankee (Dude x Judy). From that came Gr NT Ch Mid Iowa Blue Bud and another Nt CH female that died at an early age.

Jim Rosenwald and Dave Nelson both speak very highly of Jerry and his dogs.

The Bluetick men around here are all gone. Fly Forkner died 2 years ago. Floyd Cummings went and fallowed his dream and became a federal trapper. This man could write the book on how to trap. He sold all of his dogs before he left but one. He kept a female named North Star Blue Shine. Story has it he met a lion hunter out there that had a dog that treed a mountain lion for 15 hours so a rich man could fly in and shoot it. Shine was bred to him and the deal was made that all pups must be gone at weaning age. He sent the litter back to Iowa and I never knew who got a pup. Jeff Hearter owned Ugly and was disappionted in the way Ugly reproduced and gave up hunting.

Posted by Brad Phillips on 03-03-2005 09:09 PM:

Floyd Cummings

Floyd still has a few dogs. But you are right, his trapping uses up a lot of hours. Lack of coon in Wyoming. But he takes one or more with most days on the trap line I think. Spent 3 or 4 days out there in Jan. Floyd and Lori are great people.

north star forever

Hi Im Rod Dutton I owned the spring dog. I still hunt with Rex and his son Trent. My last dog died in 1998 he was out of my Jimmy male dog who was from North star mark and Spring. I breed Jim to Dave Stines Gr.Nt.Ch. North star blue Bee. to get a real nice male dog who was as solid of tree dog as you could get. When he passed away I just stopped having dogs at my piace in town.I still enjoy gowing with Rex as he is my best friend a I still say you cant pick your relatives right Trent. Rexs two females are still like the old style North star blues who can tree a coon as fast as you need and most of all stay treed as long as it too get there. His youngest female is a Nt Ch.

I think jim's North Star Blue Brandy was out out Hill's Blue Ace.
I dont know if Ace was out of Rock. Jim got her from a walker dog
man in Nebraska. She was bred to Gr.nt.ch. North Star Blue Buck several times. Buck was an all blue male that went back to O. O.
Grant breeding. I would say that the Buck and Brandy cross was
the foundation of the north star strain.
Jim then bought Mich. Blue Rebel from Charlie McCoy.He also bred him to Brandy.
I dont know where Jim got Dual Grand Bonnie from. Bonnie went
back to smokey river sage. She was the mother of Dave's north star blue star. Bonnie was a lay-up machine.I got to hunt with her several times.
I could go on like this for hours but i dont wont to bore anyone. If
anyone want to know anything about any of the north star dogs mentioned on this forum i would be happy to help.

your blue friend
Rex

Rex,

Trent said that you have two females right now, I was just wondering what north star dogs they went back to. Jerry said the next time where down that way were going to stop by and talk and maybe go for a hunt. I'm working with jerry's speck dog right now. he has been coon hunting a total of seven times now four of them were by me in the last week. he starting to get it figured out and he is a really nice tree dog.
