The fact that you have this thread up would tell us all that you did not have a guarantee on the pups, or that with or without a guarantee of good health, the breeder has not offered to remedy the situation. If you had bought a pup from me, whether we had ever had a conversation about health issues, if you had a problem I would have immediately refunded your money and this thread would not be up. If you chose to buy a pup from someone with no written agreement as to its health, have the dogs hauled by someone who offers no guarantee of healthy delivery then you have accepted this situation all on your own. To avoid this problem in the future, you may want to pick a different breeder, have written guarantees in place, and pick them up and haul them yourself. Having a meltdown at me will not solve any of your problems. I do know the cost of ignorance, and therefore I avoid acting ignorantly, and on the occasion that I still do act ignorantly, I do not blame others for the outcome. Think about it....

IF YOU VAC. A PUP SOONER THAN ABOUT 10 DAYS AFTER IT IS COMPLETLY OFF MOMMA'S MILK THEN YOU MIGHT AS WELL USE WATER CAUSE IT'LL DO AS MUCH GOOD. MOMMA'S IMMUNE SYSTEM WILL NULIFY A SHOT, SO PEOPLE THINK BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD A SHOT THEY ARE SAFE BUT NOT SO IF TO QUICK.

I sold a puppy to a lady about 5 yrs ago. She called and said that she was buying it as a present for her husband who coon hunted. I found out later that she was buying it for herself as a pet. I would have to agree with some of the others on the effectiveness of the shots. I gave a pup a parvo shot at 6 weeks, 9 weeks, and 12 weeks. the pup came down with parvo at 6 months old. the vet said she might have died if we had not have had her in such good shape.
Is it possible the dog hauler could have brought the parvo virus with him when he picked up the pups? from my understanding you can transfer the virus from your hands or even track it in with your shoes. when he picked up your pups he could have been exposing the other pups to it. not accusing, just wondering.

In this case, no I wouldn't, because if none of the other pups had it or were sick, then it would stand to reason that the puppy picked it up at it's new home. I would fight it in court also, with the statements from others buyers and my vet, it wouldn't hold up.

Aint no way I'm spending my hard earned money on a puppy and then letting some other guy go handle him and pick him up for me. The dead puppy's you seen may not even be the puppys that were picked up in the first place. Just my opinion.

It was your mistake that cost 1400$. Asking if the pups have had their shots is one of the first things you should ask. Live and learn

Englishman, apparantly giving pups a shot does not always help. I now give my female a vaccination when she first comes in heat if I plan on breeding her. Then I give the pups a shot at 10-12 weeks old. If someone wants to pick up a pup at 8 weeks, I inform him/her that the pup still needs a shot. Lori, I told the woman (and meant it) that if she had just called and told me when the pup started exhibiting symptoms or when her Vet first diagnosed the pup with Parvo, then I would have told her to "let the pup go" and I would have given her another one. She would have saved herself the Vet bill. She, being a "pet owner", could not believe that I would say such a thing! This was when I learned that her husband did not even coonhunt.

You've got a lot of different answers that may or may not be what you wanted to hear. Truth is except for a little larger scale nothing happened that hasn't happened to most of us along the line. Same pickup ,transporting, shots or no, friends saving you a trip, etc ,etc.. We all do or have done about the same and usually it's fine but not this time.
I don't see the TN. pups figuring in cause it sounds like they delivered healty pups. Everything points to AL. and I'd think he 'd return your pup money for those 2.
I personally with a dead pup Mon. morning wouldn't have waited til Thursday to see a vet with the others but it may not have made a difference anyway. Your man driving covered alot of ground in 2 days so he wasn't dragging his feet either. Getting in late Sat. would have been a very expensive emergency vet appointment around here and still may not have helped.
Apparently parvo is hot right now since this is the 3rd incident in different areas that I know of within a months time and one wasn't a coonhound pup so I'd advise some extra caution.

I read that 6,9,12, and 15 weeks is the recommended regime. If the puppy still had mother's antibodies in him, that was what rendered the shots you gave useless. One more shot at 15 weeks may have prevented the parvo developing at 6 months old. You could probably go with another shot at 18 weeks old just to be sure. I do not see what it would hurt.
Read my earlier post and that may explain why your pup contracted parvo.

my vet explained pretty much the same thing. some pups do not develope immunities to parvo untill they are 15 to 16 weeks of age. I have gotten in the habit of giving them shots untill they are 6 months old now. 6 weeks, 9 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks and 6 months old.
