-- What are you feeding? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=432780)

Purina here. I have fed several different Purina feeds and liked them all. Unlike others I haven't noticed a bit of difference in my dogs eating or performing on the new shredded blend feeds.

Bj1, the days of 30$ for Performance are over. The best you can do is save your rebate checks until TSC has there 5$ off a bag sale and then use the checks with that and get it for about 31$ plus tax. If you keep an eye out TSC usually puts all their 30$ and above dog food on sale 5 or 6 times a year.

I used to use Purina Performance and other Pro-Plan blends exclusively. Now all my dogs are on Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete, and all do great on it. It and Tractor Supply brand 4Health Performance and Chicken and Rice have both worked for me, and the prices are much better than on other brands in my area.

Of course, we feed our deer dogs Pride and have had good results as well. I like to go the "extra mile" for my coonhounds though, and prefer a corn-free feed since I have a couple dogs with mild allergies.

Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete... Mine have been on it exclusively since last Sept. I might switch them over to the Diamond Naturals Chicken & Rice now that its getting so hot out. I have a litter of puppies on Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy Lamb & Rice, it's the first puppy food I've fed in a LONG time, and seems to be pretty good.

We've always had good luck with the Diamond Naturals line of feed, and the 4Health from Tractor Supply. There is not a better Puppy food out there IMO than Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy - GREAT results!!!

We are currently feeding Southern States 24/20 and are suprisingly happy with it. Dogs look/perform well and the kennel cleanup is not bad at all.

Diamond Naturals

So I am thinking about trying this feed here soon! From the responses on here people seem to like it. The main thing I noticed about my Retriever Hi Protein dog food is the #1 ingredient is CORN and IF you have a dog with allergies that's never good. My dog is 5 months old. What feed from Diamond Naturals do you think is the best for him right now?

Andrew

I'm raising my first litter of puppies on the Extreme Athlete and really like the way they and their dam look on it. It's formulated for all life stages, so it's fine to use on a growing puppy. Have an 8 month old I've raised on it since I got her at 4 months, and she's done well too.

I did try the Naturals puppy feed on the one that's 8 months now, but she didn't seem to like it as much as the EA. If not for that I probably would have kept feeding it. It definitely wasn't a bad feed, but she isn't a picky eater and still wasn't big on it for some reason.

I feed Hi Standard 26-18. Its the best buy I have found at $23 for 50#. I have fed higher priced feeds but my dogs didn't look any better or perform any better.

Native is the best feed IMO. Dogs do not overheat in the summer. Very little cleanup and I can tell a big difference in their haircoats. I have tried all the feeds ya'll have mentioned, not saying they are bad feeds but Native is a lot better feed. I am paying 32.29 a bag FOR 40 LBS. The biggest thing I like is you DO NOT have to feed much. I give my dogs 2 cups a day. If I am hunting them hard I will give them an extra cup. You might can buy a cheaper feed BUT your dogs will need more feed to perform so you will not save any money in the long run. It is cheaper to feed a better quality feed.JMO but I have been feeding Native for about 3 months and I can see a big difference in my dogs. Happy Hunting!

Diamond extreme 20 to 27 bucks for a 40 or 50 lb bag dogs eat it had a few that wouldnt but when they get hungry and realize t bone steaks aint coming through the pen they eat it if a dog wont eat cuz he is picky then he will die bein picky and if he does that aint worth havin a dog with no common sense lmbo

A person really needs to be aware about the true difference between a p.i.t.a. picky eater, a dog with allergies, and a dog who knows something is wrong with what's in the bowl.
There have been a lot of people who forced their dogs to eat a food that killed it and was later (too late) recalled.
It all boils down to knowing your dog(s).

I HAVE FED DOG CHOW FOR A LOT OF YEARS AND STILL DO ,TO SOME OF MY DOGS. AND THE OTHERS ARE ON EXTREME ATHLETE, THE REASON IS 3 OF MY WALKER DOGS HAVE SKIN IRRITATIONS, AND WHEN I SWITCH THEM TO EXTREME ATHLETE IT CLEARS UP. NOT SURE WHAT IT IS BUT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT DOG CHOW, BUT MY BEAGLES AND LAB AND BOXER ARE FINE ON DOG CHOW

Sport Mix

My dogs look good, its pretty affordable $22-$24 for a 50lb bag. Clean up is good, no loose stool.
