that sounds like a good idea hunting on the feeder at first. i have some places i already feed deer that have coon around them. thanks for the advise.

sounds like you are on the right track. just be on the look out for any bad habits the pup may start doing. some like to gnaw on vines, jump the tree, and mill around after they tree. I believe if you work at most habits can be stopped when they are young.

Blake and Greg

have given you great advice. Robert has a littermate to your pup and his is running and treeing and doing it all right. I try to single a pup out by itself instead of adding it with another pup. They can pick up some bad habits that are hard to break. Plus you want an independent pup. I would start it wth an honest old dog that is accurate until they can start by themselves and then switch them over to hunting them by themselves. I turn a couple of caged coons loose early on myself. that has always worked for me. Once they start retreeing them by themselves, then hunt them by themselves \
Greg, didnt know you had a dog out of Louie. what is the bottom side bred like
I owned raised and trained Louies grandmother. I started that line of dogs way way back. I want to come look at that hound one day. Boots my main dog goes back to Louie. I had stopped hunting about 5 or 6 years when I was raising my kids and was into competitive sports and when I got back in I got a granddaughter to Louie since it was the only thing I could find with my old blood in it and I am glad I did. There is a dog for sale in this months cooner by john monroe that has my old blood in it. The flat rock shilo dog in the pedigree of Clays Dan is a littermate to Louies Mom. John said he might breed a brother to him to a gyp he has. Might be worth looking ino a female to breed to your old dog.

me to bud

went to work in the garden after we got through and was sweatin like a whole hog on the grill. Pitched the hoe in a row and headed inside. try it again in the morning.

After talking with that guy from Indiana, I found out that the Lee Crawford walker days winner goes back to my dogs twice up close. Her daddys momma was out of a sister to Louie and and a litter mate to louies momma. That makes him double coma up close and double sacket jr all in a three generation pedigree.

I am going to try and get somethng bred to him asap. not sure what right now. Got nothing ready. Might try and find me a louie female somewhere. Keep your ear to the ground for me.

I KNOW OF A DIRECT FEMALE OUT OF LOUIE. HER MOM IS OUT OF STYLISH HARRY. AND THE GREAT IS OUT OF KENTUCKY RIVER ROWDY. THEY ARE OR WERE ALL COON TREEING FEMALES.

I just caught up on this thread. Ha I have been busy getting my buddy married and have been trying to catch a coon to work my pup on but no luck. That makes about a two week dry streak .

Posted by cripple creek on 06-06-2011 06:15 PM:

hey medic

if you will send me your cell phone number i can text you a video of a littermate to yours treeing. she is going to be an awesome young hound. It is too hot for me boys right now. I guess I could go at 4 am, but cant get my lazy tail out of bed that early. Bad bad time to start a young dog. I would wait till a rain and get after it right afterwards.

text me. my number is 901-292-5464. leave a message if you get my voice mail. I have a big garden and I sweat so much, I leave the phone inside till I get done.

good luck on your pup. if youcan take a pic of it and text me he pic I would appreciate it. They sure were a pretty litter for sure.
I heard the mom of your pup is a real nice tree dog.

Hey bud...

Got it before. Me and the wife. Get you some doxycycline asap.
You will have to get the dr. to perscribe it. It liked to have killed us both no joke. Check for ticks all over and get this med in you if the dr will give it to you.
We got this about 5 years ago and were sick about two months with it went to dr and they said it was just a bug that was going around. We kept getting sicker and sicker to the point we couldnt even stand. Got on line and read about tick fever and saw where this antibiotic was used and we got a friend who was a nurse to get it for us and within 48 hrs we started feeling a little better. It took almost a month to get us back to normal. I shutter to think where we might be without that med.
Let me know if this helps. Also let me know if I need to help feed dogs etc for you. or help around the place.

p.s.

my cousin had same symptoms and told him and he went to a clinic and got it. They tried to give him some grief about it and he raised cane and they gave it to him and he started feeling better
within two days as well. took about 2 weeks for him to get back to normal. He got on it quick. we were sick for nearly two months before we got the meds. CAn you imagine having the flu for 2 months?

there is some kinda thing going around down here that i have been seeing alot. unexplained fever with no cough and no runny nose but fever and flu like ache. i dont know what it is but whatever it is antibiotics of any kind will get rid of it but everyone seems to get over it slow. i have had sinus problems lately too cause of the dry heat we are having. so it could be a sinus infection if you are having sore throat or cough. any way you go antibiotics will help.

IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE EVERY DAY. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN KICKED IN THE BACK OF MY NECK AND HEAD BY A MULE AND MY LOWER BACK IS VERY SORE. ONE GOOD THING IS I CAN STILL EAT AND I LOVE EATING LOL. WHEN I LAY IN BED IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE BUT I HAVE A VERY STRONG URGE TO DO SO.
