All I've ever read is it takes a majority to score a tree and if its 2 an2 its circled don't matter which way the judge voted. Now Im second guessing myself.

It only takes the hunting judge to decide to minus for off game and it takes the majority of the cast to overturn him. If he says it's minus for off game then you minus it in a 2 to 2 vote.

In the case of a tree where 2 vote minus for a possum and 2 vote plus for a coon and the hunting judge is voting it plus.... you delete the points. Takes a majority to plus or minus the tree so you can't plus or minus. There is definitely something in the tree so you can't circle it. Only thing left to do is delete.

This is how it was explained in the book of fairytales known as The Advisor. Granted without reading it in the advisor I and probably 90% of the hunters out there would have thought it should be circled. But UKC says to delete so....

Aight fellers I was wrong I mis read and misinderstood the advisor now in my opinion I nowe think it should be circled because you wouldn't want to delete the points in my opinion and also I believe the judge should carry a tie breaker vote since he had got the authority that's my opinion again that's what I thinlk should happen sorry guys for mis understandijn it

So let me make sure I have this right. 4 dog cast- 4 dogs catch a possum on the ground. Judge says "all four dogs minused for off game". A cast member questions the call, a vote is called for, and with a 2 to 2 vote the judges call stands, because it takes a majority of cast to overturn judges decision. Now later in the same cast, dogs tree a possum. two cast members vote to minus, two vote to plus [they claim it is a raccoon] and the tree is deleted. On the next tree two cast members claim to see a raccoon, two can not see it and think the tree is slick, so vote to minus. This tree gets circled.

Now here is my question, what if dogs bay a possum under a riverbank overhang- they are making minimal contact with it, so it is not "in a place of refuge", but two cast members say that it is. So now you have a 2 to 2 vote about whether it is a place of refuge, or if it is caught. If the judge is on the side of caught, then it is treated as caught, and judge may minus it. If the judge says it is in a place of refuge then it comes down to a vote as to whether it is a possum, or maybe just an extremely muddy raccoon. And by now the critter has crawled up into a rootball on the riverbank overhang, and is out of site. Now the cast votes based on what they saw in that split second as they were pulling their dogs off.
In the above scenario does the judge have to be overturned by a majority of the cast in his determination of what a tree or place of refuge is? Does "scoring the tree" include deciding if it is a tree or place of refuge?
