Just send it in to garmin they'll repair it/replace it for 150 dollar charge.

I wouldn't want Garmin to come out with a locater and shocker combo. I can buy a Garmin and put any shocker on it I want buy punching 2 holes in the collar.

They can't get any more range out of them with out going to a band you have to pay a monthly fee for and the FCC wouldn't allow it and I wouldn't want to pay for it. So if I have a problem I will just keep getting on a hill or high spot. Most the time a mile is good for me.

What ever it is

I don't expect there is a whole lot more that can be done, either from FCC or the hunters pocket book. FCC won't let them turn up the power and other bells and whistles are going to cost more. I figure that if and when they come out with something, it will just be something that will make the screen a little more user friendly. Hope it doesn't have too many bugs in it to contend with.

GoogleEarth is definitely the way to go to make an upgrade.

Drew- You know you can pull up your tracks in mapsource and then view them in Google Earth! You do this by uploading your tracks to mapsource then click on view and pick Google Earth at the bottom of the list. I know this is not at the same time you are hunting and I don't know how it could be done while hunting. You would have to be on the Internet and connected to Google Earth for that to be done.

I agree. Theres No doubt The 30 is way better than the 40. From what I've seen the 40 is junk. I hope they're makeing a better system all around.

Why does everyone that runs a 30 say 40 is junk?

I would reach over a 30 every time to pick up my 40. Never, Never had any problems !
I think people that complain the most ether don't have them and want to jump on the band wagon or don't know how to use a Garmin to start with..

JUST MY 2 CENTS!!!!!

Ok, I dont get to hunt much anymore because I live on a island, but Idid hunt every nite for many years and I might say that garmin is the best thing that ever happend to coon huntin saved my dogs life more than onces!! Bill is right about what he said about the other hunters that just simply dont have a DC40 yet. But you can guarantee that Garmin is not gonna back up on a product, only get better!! You cant go wrong with a Garmin!!

Hunt with the 30 and 40 almost every night and 40 looses sinal alot and don't get near the range. Only thing nicer is the charging system.

I can't see any difference whatsoever in the 40 and the 30 except the charging system. I have 1 of each and they both lose and pickup signal almost simultaneously when the dogs are together.

Know how to use one. I hunt enough to know what collar is better out of the 2.

Try setting your 40's to a lower ID setting. That may be the differance you are seeing.

It's kinda funny how every search about DC320's and rumors leads to your pages... You must have the scoop! Either that or you are the one starting the rumors.....

So now I'm at a delima here.. Do you guys want the scoop or "rumors" or not.. I never know if I'm doing you guys a favor or not..

Anyways.. I Just got some info about what the difference will be.. Not all the info but just another Big Clue as to some new features.... (I'm not too excited about it but it will be allot different)

I can't tell if Most people were just bashing me here.. and if everyone would just rather wait until it's official.... Or is it only the other dealers that are not wanting my to spread the info??

LOL..

I just had to trade in two DC40's from a customer that bought them 3 weeks ago.. He lost his dog for 12 hours after they swam a creek.. The DC40's are getting better with the updates, but In my opinion.. they are definitely not as good as the DC30's..

garmin

don't stop now, if U do everybody will figure you have thin skin. U heard the saying if U can't run with the big dawgs you need to stay on the porch. I would think U are a big dawg to hunt in the west. Hang in there, but take care not to hurt your friends at GARMIN.

Two things that would get me to instantly upgrade to a better handheld:
1- better battery charging system. My preference would be to have a car charger system.
2- the key pad should have a "lock" setting. I often have my handheld in my front bib pocket. As I am walking along the buttons get bumped, and on one occasion a collar got renamed to "26n1". Due to my confusion of not having "Dog 1" in the system [that was the collar's name previously] I had a hard time finding the dog. I am in constant fear that the button bumping will erase a collar, or change it's ID number.

I will say this on a positive note regarding the DC30 collar- I had a dog drowned by a coon last week. It happened about 1 in the morning. The handheld just showed a "?" mark. The next day I took a boat out at about 1 in the afternoon. I found the dog [by eyesight] was able to pull her up and get the collar off, and amazingly it was still working! 12 hours submerged, and it still had three bars of charge.

I'm just messing with some of the guys on here..

The 320 will be (Did I say.. will Be??) based on the Garmin Oregon.

It's a larger screen, but it's a Touch screen setup.

Should be able to take that Bird's eye Satelite maps for the 30 dollars per month. So that might be a Nice feature.

I'm not sure personally if I'm going to like the touch screen for hunting.. Might be hard in the snow with gloves and frozen fingers (Us thin skinned western Guys have to deal with crap like that.. )

Like the post above me I hope they have a screen Lock feature...

I've never messed with the Garmin Oregon so I guess I'm going to have to find one to play with and see what I think..

Here is a photo of the Garmin Oregon for those that don't know what it is.

Your post said $30 per month. The link your post took me to said $30 per year.

$30 per year I would probably do but not $30 per month.

New Garmin Astro 320

Do you know if the new model will be able to read the DC30's and DC40's?

Any estimated timeline on the DC50's?

Thanks

Posted by Mrwildman on 04-12-2011 02:23 PM:

We will have the DC50's in stock by the end of month!

I don't like the touch screen idea. Someone needs to get from behind the desk and in the woods. Muddy, wet, cold fingers and a touch screen will lead to problems IMO.
