-- HUNTS ON DECEMBER 25th?????? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=391342)

Out of 50 states and all of Canada, there are a grand total of 4 UKC nite hunts on Christamas Day. And you are worried about the possibilty that a few dogs MIGHT get a cheap win at one of those 4 hunts? Do yourself a favor and don't EVER look at the the hunt results from Kansas on ANY date, you would prolly have some sort of breakdown.
As for spending time with loved ones on Christmas, how do you know that isn't exactly what they are doing at those Christmas hunts?
Give it up Trevor, your pissin into the wind again.

back when I was in high school i would take my old female out on every holiday. christmas eve, christmas, new years eve, etc.... That was always my little present to her. then when I joined the Army i really hunted on the holidays all night. so if ukc wants to have a hunt on christmas thats fine. I wish they had had one back then.

By biggest concern is simply where does it stop? I mean next thing you know there will be hunts on Sunday nights.

there is one very important point that you all are missing here, and that is the way hunts are scheduled with UKC.
each club gets so many hunts and they keep those dates from year to year. But.......those dates change according to the calender changes, for example these clubs having hunts on Dec 25 this year may have originally been scheduled for Dec 20 which at that time was a Friday or Saturday. And, if you don't hold your hunt on your reserved dates even 1 year, you will possibly lose that date and (at least around here) it is very hard to find an open week-end to pick up another hunt.

So, if it bothers you, just don't go. I haven't ever seen anybody complain about hunts on Sat night before Easter - ever try and hunt till 2 or 3 and then go to an early sunrise service? I'm sure that these clubs may not be any happier than you are about the date, but they didn't have much choice.

What's next. A 11:59 pm deadline so the hunt does'nt carry over into Sun. Start your own KC and let us know how it turns out.

It's just the same as any other hunt people have an option to go! We can hunt here in Virginia on Sundays (chase) we can go to church then turn loose! "See if all the praying I did for my dog worked" haha

"Spend time with my family", maybe some consider their fellow coonhunters as their extended family! Some of my fondest memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are when my daddy would let us kids go rabbit or squirrel hunting with him and my uncles and grandpa. Hunting with beagles or squirrel dogs was just a part of the holiday tradition to them. I always take my grandkids (9-14yrs old, boys and girls) out a night or two during their Christmas break.
