State Farm is the cheapest I found anywhere.8000.00 accidenttal death for under 300.00 annually. You will have to prove worth of dog. You just cant say its worth 50,000.

Evan,
You are correct on the premium. We get 7% for mortality and 3% for theft.

We it comes to insuring a dog there are several different coverages. For example liability coverage would protect you from third party losses. If your hound bit or destroyed something you would be covered as the owner.

Mortality- covers your hound should he die for any reason! Hit by a car, shot by an idiot or anything else.

Theft- covers your hound during transit or anywhere providing you as the owner did your duediligence. The hound must be provided go shelter and have decent controls in place.

Be sure you address the term misterous disaperance with you agent. Alot of policies don't cover this. Example- old Snoopy gets lots during a hunt or he escapes out of his kennel.

We due offer financing for larger premiums for hounds. However the interest rate is rather high. We do require 40% down payment.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. scott@lewisfinancial.org.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Scott

Also FYI State Farm isn't a market for hound insurace. They only cover dogs while they are at homeowners property. Key word being accidental!
