-- time out ? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=356403)
Jim, they called time out in a SPLIT TREE SITUATION and the judge told them if they drove he coudn't score his dog (he was wrong).
They scored it wrong and he was asking how to properly score it.
I gave him the proper way to score it like he asked.
Another thing is it doesn't matter WHY they called time out (although technically it does because you can't call time out except in the situations in rule 8, but let's overlook that for now).
The dog was declared treed BEFORE time out was called the way it was presented anyway. The judge would have never given him the option to score the dog if he wasn't declared treed before time out was called (at least he isn't supposed to but who knows LOL).
The rules ORDER you to go score that dog. It's not an option, therefore the 1 hour can NOT apply in that situation because the cast must go score the dog, and you have to take the dogs with you in case the dog leaves the tree or the 2 gets it and you have to call time in.
Yes, if they call time out because a dog is out of pocket and it wasn't declared treed before time out was called then the 1 hour applies.
But the 1 hour can not apply to a dog that was declared treed before time out was called regardless of why that time out was called because the rules clearly state that dogs declared treed during hunting time WILL be scored (provided of course that the time out rules were used correctly but we know that's not always the case too).

now what is the proper way to do the 15 min.?do you write
the time you left dwn on the scorecard and then what you
count those 15 are do you get it all back or what?
THANKS
Yep, if I am walking that's what I do. I call time out to go between split trees (because for that to happen the dogs have to be treed/on the leash you can't call time out on dogs that are out competing for strike). If it was questionable, say I thought it would take 15 minutes but it only took 10 then I erase the time out and count that time against us (remember that all dogs are on the leash so this doesn't effect anything and if the dog would have left the tree or been minused time would have been back in anyway).
That's the only fair way I know how to do it. That just makes sure I don't accidentally have my cast have an advantage over other casts. If it took 15 minutes then it's fine, if it took less then I make sure that time out is removed and that time counts against our hunt time.
But usually if you are calling time out you KNOW it's gonna take more than 15 minutes, and if you are driving there is no doubt it would have taken you more than 15 minutes to have walked it (otherwise you had no business driving).

right i couldnt remmeber if you had to walk to the tree
and then they were redemed.
thanks guys
I think both you guy are right just read it differently the time out was originally to score the split tree then the guide told the judge he couldn’t drive to score the tree which I now know is wrong atleast in a case like this. I didn’t think the hour rule could still apply to scoring split trees. Thanks for the help you guys covered it well and telling me where to find it so it never happens to me that cost the dog a cast win in an rqe.
Blueticking it
When you asked about shining half the tree. I would think you would be scatched because dog wasn't handled and shine time wasn't started, if you shined the tree.
