Thanks for orignally poating this,
Been thinking real hard about putting a hound I have in hunts later this yr. The info your recieving was also very helpful to me.
Oh and one more thing could not help but notice just how close you are to me. I actually hunt real close to you.
Anyways good luck girl in those hunts. Show everyone!!!

I am a young woman in my mid-twenties. I have experienced many different things while in the hunts (and I have only been in a handful).
I have been "helped" along (this area has some pretty rough terrain at times).
I have been left behind.
I have been cheated (as I think MOST people have, at some point, so get used to that).
I have been given the preference to.
From one end of the spectrum to the other, it has happened. All I can say is: be confident. KNOW THE RULES and don't be bashful in speaking your mind if something is not going as you think it should.
I, personally, do not go to a nite hunt without a spectator. Boyfriend/husband or trusted male friend is good with me. That is only because I was raised very aware that some men are not trustworthy and I don't want to take the chance of being out in the middle of the woods with a strange man. Those statements might be offensive to some people, but that is just how I feel. Always be safe!
And have fun! You will very likely get a win taken out from under you at some point, and it will be very frustrating. Expect it to happen at some point. It happens to most folks, male or female. Don't let it discourage you!
If you keep your composure, but put up a good fight, you will gain a lot of respect. There are many men (mostly the older, less proud ones lol) who know and compliment my little female and I when they see us at the bench shows and nite hunts. It feels good to be known as an honest houndswoman.

I welcome them into the hunts. We need everyone we can get. Besides I would rather walk along with a nice lady than a bunch of stinking men. LOL

girls hunting
I'm a female hunter, and out of all the guys that i know and hunt with i can only say bad things about 2 of them (and thats just because they are afraid that they are going to get beat by a girl) but the rest of them have helped me more than anything to get involved, and get a good dog that can track and tree a coon with no questions asked!
i couldn't thank duane barnes or steve keene enough for all the help that they have given me in getting dogs, and getting them to the woods!
im a deffinate coon hunting addict, and can't get enough of it, i even have my boyfriend hunting with me now!
I know alot of girls that i talk to that also comp. hunt, and they love it. - Yes you will find those guys who are affraid of being beat by a girl, but thats because they are sissy's and can't take it, but most the guys you will run into are going to be supportive, and congradulate you on your win, or give you advice to try and beat them the next time!

I wouldn't put myself in that kind of situation. Think about it, just the perfect recipe for getting a guy himmed up and ruined forever, with ukc, family, church, job. Nope shouldn't happen or be allowed to mingle like that.
i think it is a great ideal i think that there should be more my wife hunts now she is prego she doesnt as much but she did alot before and would put the guys in there place she has came back with some high scores girls can do everything a guy can do so go and hunt in these hunts really dont worry bout them just dont let them push you around if they do put them in there place and go by the rules and you will do great
