you can get on some ruff country here in arkansas.. REAL RUFF
mingo county and logan west virginia
Worst hunt!
Western Tennesee in the middle of summer is the worst hunting I've experienced when hunting in different states around the US. Not because the conditions were ruff, but simply because of lack of coon. Went down there years back for American Redbone Days and only seen 1 coon in 3 nights of hunting and that was over a feeder. I'm pretty sure theres more cottonmouths then coon there. lol.

i've hunted the hills of alabama and i didn't like it. climbing them and then sliding down the other side. stumbling over so many rocks, not knowing where to step without falling. then there's the ticks and brairs.
i hunt the swamps and brush of eastern nc now. i don't like the deep water. when you walk in you don't know if you're going to need knee boots or chest waders. the snakes aren't a big problem because they are usually around the edge of the water or on mounds of dirts or whatever. in the summer it's so hot or humid, bugs of everykind and brush so thick you can't cut your way through by yourself. i think the hills are worse.

up here in the fall i have some good hunting when the coon are in the corn. We have some nice size coon too,a guy from missouri was up here working pipeline we took him hunting a few times he was suprized at the size of the coon. our coon pop is getting back up some now i have seen 9 or 10 many nights. years ago seemed like there was always 5 to 7 per tree now 2 in a tree is good. last fall was pretty good i cant complain i got to shoot a few for the dogs and seen quite a few. i want to hunt down south just to try it.We dont have the hunters up here like a lot of places have not many hunts to go to but i think that helps our coon pop. I look at some states that have hunts everyweekend and think that would be nice but im sure with that many people running hounds it gets tougher to find a coon to tree.
I know some places people hunt including some myself here in Florida that will make alot of coonhunters quit, especially during summer months.
Some places have sand gnats so bad you can`t spray enough to keep them from biting you. A good long mile walk through a briar thicket in the middle of the summer is always fun. Watching where you step in some of these places is not an option, you just step and hope there is not a rattler or if around water a cotton mouth not laying there. Also in these spots with a good amount of water there is alot of gators hanging around in places. If you get in a beaver pond that when you take a step carefully and see it bubbling up 10 feet ahead of you it can be stressful. U better have a hunting buddy with you because it could be like quick sand in there and you may not get out alone if you step in the right spot. I can go on and on about the bull crap you sometimes have to put up with.
I try to avoid alot of these places as much as possible though.

I guess when when you get right down to it that I AM A SERIOUS CANDY A$$!!! No way would you get me coon huntin in snake country! I used to go deer huntin in Georgia and North Carolina but gave it up due to snakes and gators. My wife and I are planning to relocate and Kentucky was one of our choices but NO WAY! Hills or mountains, NO PROBLEM! Snakes, PROBLEM!! A fella told me one night in Kentucky that if you smell cucumbers that you are probably near rattlesnakes, all I could smell was human poop!
