I love the south but wouldnt move. up to our butts in snow three months a year BUT no snakes, no gators, no dillars, no porkies, no big hills to climb and lots and lots of coon. We can hunt all summer without working up a sweat. Just got back from a trip down by the N.C. S.C. border and its a crying shame what yall have let the timber companys do to your hardwoods. Clearcuts, pines and beaver swamps. No wonder the coon are gone. Some of the nicest people i ever met but your huntin sucks.

Maybe we could work a deal. I come hunt with you in summer months and you come hunt with me in winter months. Don't let these cut up woods fool you we have plenty of coon. Especialy on the coast in the marsh area.

Posted by A Dowell on 02-11-2010 08:56 PM:

man how says we dont have coon you hit these corn and soybean feilds or hunt the rivers and swamps well show yall what coon dogs are about 75% of the tracks here are yalls long tracks yall got flat country and yall tree um fast we run long tracks and cross the river 3 to 10 times and our dogs earn there coon our dogs have to stick to one track to last dog i hunted out of yalls nothern country couldnt finish our hard tracks but all this just makes the hunt and sport more fun for us sothern boys runing through the woods chasing a good hound or to till he trees that old ring tail then shootit in the a** and wach the figh and go agin just hope you dont tree in bubbas back yard when hes had a few then you better slip in without a light and grabum and get the h@!! out ROFLMAOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much walking here and it is all level unless you don't want it to be. Can't find anything all down hill but I am working on it.

Im from down in LA, thats lower Arkansas for you that dont know and we have been called hillbillies ,rednecks and that is some of the nicer descriptions. We dont have some of the best coon huntin to be had nor the timber we once had, but the deer, turkey, hogs, possums.dillers and buzzards are plentifull.
Now talkin bout them der catheads if yaul will just throw a couple 2 or 3 porkchops and some mush fried tators in der I mite jus invite myself on over to yauls house caus I know how good dat is.
Call us a hillbilly or a redneck thats alright, just call us when dem der fixins are ready. Just remember- we say grace and we say mam and if you aint into that , as Hank says we dont give a dam.
If Jerry Springer is all I had to watch Id throw my tv out the window.

John Duemmer where in western NY. do you live? I live in Allegany county where we have lots of porkies, big woods with steep hills, swamps, clear cuts, pot plantations, lots of welfares, above average coon population, and winter about 5 months long!Maybe I have missed out on the finer areas of western NY. Finer or not we are gettin the heck out of this state within the year, we aren't heading to the south but I gotta believe N.E. Ohio has got this area all beat to hell!

John, now it's clear to me about the flat land and no porkies in your area. If you have hunted down here in my area you know what I'm talking about too. Take care and if you want to hunt some steep ground come on down some night.

I have put my foot in my mouth!!!!!!!!!!I started this post about our nice weather in the south. Guess what it is white outside and its not showing any sign of stopping anytime soon. Looks to be a couple of inches thick. First time that its snowed here in years. Oh well my children are really enjoying it. I'll be glad when its gone.

Posted by joey bourne on 02-19-2010 08:52 PM:

they say the south will rise again! don't know about rise but the weather is beautifull here again. 2 days of snow had me down but its all gone now sun is shinning bright birds are chirping. Just waiting on dark thirty to cast the dogs in the deep water swamps we have and listen to that oh so lovely swamp music once more.

Posted by Bluedogman on 02-19-2010 09:01 PM:

I know just what you mean. I hate to come in here and tell these northern folks how nice it is out. 59 degrees, sunny and bright, OMG!

It's the same up here. In the winter the coon will run forever down the rivers. I can get on my four wheeler and ride down the river to get to them. LOL
