Doggie Doolies
They work okay.I think they are over-rated.They seem to work better in the warmer months. They are made of plastic and the first thing the dogs did was chew the lids off.I need to build a cover out of some treated materiel with a handle on 'em to keep 'em covered. In the colder months,I usually just toss it into the field behind the kennels.

Oh Rob. a sugestion for top. Flat metal plate with a ring or some stubs that fit down in the hole. A chain tacked on top for handle. They would be able to pick it up by the chain if you use some heavy plate. LOL
The top being off might be why there not digesting the waste they are supose to.

im fixing to build a new kennel in a 16 x 16 section of a shed im puting 6 kenels in it........... That's 42 sq ft per kennel. Thats not much bigger than a piece of plywood they are 32 sq ft. Just something to think about. Not very big.

I would do cement. If you want to raise any pups you can bleach it. If you ever have a bought with parvo or any real bad stuff bleach is the only way to go. Cement doesn't cost much more than anything else and you can bleach it. Slick finish so there is nothing for crap to hide in. It is slick for 20-30 minutes a day after washing. Lock the dogs out and wash the inside then lock them in and wash the outside. Any problems with there joints or anything they make mats for it.

Yep as long as you don't get more than you can hunt 3 nights a weak or have a exercise pen you can let them run and romp in every now and then for a few hours.

As far as the turds go I have 160 acres of Black Iowa dirt to pitch them at
Smooth concrete is what I've had my dogs on for 20 years and
don't think I would ever change. I run a 2 foot trowel over it
after you float it to seal it nice. Easy to clean and have never
had a dog get injured from falling.

Finishes
A "broom" finish by no means has to be "rough" A little hair can be left on top by a power trowel also for minor traction with an experienced finisher. True though the tighter seal, the cleaner it gets. If they are broomed too early they can definitely be too rough. I prefer a broom behind a power trowel.
hit it wet with a steel trowel and leave it alone. there will be enough texture when its wet and definetly not enough to tear up a dogs feet
Hey guys lets see more photos of kennels. Alot of you have good ideas. Show alot of the interior photos.
