UPDATE

UPDATING FOR ALL THAT HAVE PM AND ASKED.

Storm is now getting up on her own and walking around. She is trotting around and smelling everything like it's her first time. I let her out Saturday morning before heading to SETWD, so she could potty. I heard something and went to the front door. Storm had chased down one of my barn cats and put it up the tree. She wasn't belly up or blowing the top out, but she was staggering and squeaking at the base. She's a fighter of a dog and got a heart bigger than the world. For all that have prayed, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. She's still not walking normal but its been 27 days from when she went down, I think she's doing pretty good myself. I think she's progressed faster than I've ever seen a dog. Again thank you ALL for your prayers and concern, they are APPRECIATED.

Jenn

Took her for a walk tonite in the woods. She was every where with her nose to the ground the entire time. She got out of site once but I put a tracking collar on her just incase She got tired and I had to carry her back...lol. Guess she will be back to normal in no time. Gaining weight and muscle everyday. She truely is a miracle to me, her life means so much to me. All my hounds mean the world to me. I can't thank everyone enough who prayed for her. I appreciate it with all that I have.

I don't think anyone will know how much I love her other than Christy. She knows the tears I've cried and the sleepless nights making sure Storm didn't stop breathing. She's a special hound that means the world to me. When she starts hunting again I'm gonna be like the momma sending her kid off to school for the first time. I'll wrap her in bubble wrap...lol. Nah but my relationship will be different with her for sure.

Thank you Heather for praying all this time for my girl. It means alot. Thank You!

It is very heartwarming to read about Storms steady progress and to know that she is getting better every day. Daniel Evans just lost his dog yesterday to this terrible disease and it is truly wonderful to hear of your girl doing so well. I hope she continues to get well and you have many wonderful years ahead with her. Good luck and happy hunting --Christie

You're Welcome Jenn!

Bob and I are pretty fond of all our pets... One of our last foster BnTs ended up staying here since she had a terminal illness. I spent just about 24 hrs a day treating her and she wormed her way DEEP into my heart... I had done treatment like this for horses in my career... but the dawgs...IN our houses make their absence even worse when the die... For a long time after Uma died I couldn't stand not HAVING to do all that care.... It is amazing how close it makes you... I had to care for my greyhound thru many an injury and illness and we always joked about what a "pain in the buttocks" he was BUT... man we'd do it all over again. Even the BnT we have now who has "issues"... so growing on me... probably BECAUSE of his issues...LOL...
I know how your relaitionship with her has changed. The one thing I REALLY respect is that you are GOING to LET her hunt again if she is able to. It IS what she loves to do after all... SOME of the coonhounds LIKE retirement(like my blue dawg does)... but most LOVE to "work"... This is why I always agonized about the dawgs getting into rescue losing their ability to hunt...BUT I also realise that they don't all make it and pet homes(like ours) are a great alternative to death if possible...
OK.. sorry I got to babbling... It's been a LONG day here and getting on this forum is my relaxation and stress relief and I just wanted you to know how much it means to me to have followed this story!
Heather

Heather your words have truely touched my heart. Storm is my pride and joy and she has such drive. I would never deprive her of ever hunting again. She's like you said, "Loves to Work". She enjoys being a house dog, but when I take her out she doesn't want to come in...lol. I have to drag her in or bribe her in with a treat. She's my baby girl for sure. Rotten as all get out, and the thing about it, SHE KNOWS SHE IS. She even has her own blanket in front of the TV adn comes in and claims it. Again Thank you for staying with me and Storm thru our hard times. Next she will be her back in the woods, finishing a name for herself.

BLESS HER HEART! I CRIED WHEN I WATCHED THE VIDEO TODAY.

TO SEE HOW FAR THIS DOG HAS CAME IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS IS TRULY ASTONISHING!

I LOVE GETTING THE VIDEOS FROM JENN DAILY! IT BRIGHTENS MY DAY TO SEE THIS DOG RECOVERING LIKE SHE IS!

STORM HAS NEVER GIVEN UP FIGHTING THE ENTIRE TIME, AND JENN HAS NEVER GIVEN UP ON HER EITHER.

I TOLD JENN THER IS TONS OF STUFF THEY CAN DO TO HUNT, EVEN SHOW. THERE ARE FIELD TRIALS AT LOCAL CLUBS.

ALL OF IT WILL BE THERAPY FOR BOTH. EVEN IF STORM DOESNT MAKE A FULL RECOVERY, FROM WHAT IVE SEEN IN THE LAST WEEK SHE WILL BE CLOSE AND SHE WILL BE JUST FINE!

Christy, you of all people know how far me and Storm have came together. She truely is a miracle. Many nights when she couldn't move, I'd lay crying, begging her to pull thru this. I believe once in my life my dog listened to me. Storm has got a heart big as the world, and I never want to inhibit her from anything. I look back at all the videos on my phone from the first day to now, and I cry thinking of all the emotions in those time periods. She has really came far in 33 days. Her progress is growing in leaps and bounds. She will be back to her old self or pretty durn close, soon enough. Thank you Christy for your prayers and kind words thru this hard road that me and Storm have traveled. Thank you! I can't say it enough.

:)

I showed Storm a dead coon today. (Don't worry it was roadkill lastnite!) Didn't let her have it though. Hung it up in the tree and let her go. She barked her heart out. She got tired and then laid down. I took it from the tree and she got up and went back to barking. She still doesn't have all her voice back but this is just a start. Storms getting most her muscle back and her weight. She getting back to the gal I knew a month ago.

Christy if you still have the videos of her today, would you please post them? My computer just seems to not let me post them...

I'd like everyone to see how far my girls came, and where she stands now.

100%

To let everyone know, Storm is back to full speed. My babygirl is leaving the safety of the house and becoming a dog again...lol. She's moving back to her kennel. People that see her and didn't know she was sick thought nothing ever happened to her, until I show them videos and pictures on my phone. Storm has made a full recovery. I never thought I was going to keep my girl. The vet gave her a slim chance of recovery and said she may never walk normal again. I've proved science and medicine wrong...ha! I've stuck by my girl thru thick and thin. She's pulled thru this sickness, and shown me what heart she has. I believe I may put her in the woods next week on a feeder bucket. Only one drop, don't want to over do it for the first time. Again thank you for all who prayed for Storm. She truely is a miracle and my pride. This is one story that has a happy ending, Fairytales do exist...

UP UPDATE

Posting for all those who have PM me.

Took Storm lastnite to the woods for the first time since she's gotten better. Turned her loose, she kinda didn't wanna go but I let her fart around. Then she went in and got struck. Her voice has changed. (GOTTEN BETTER) She is now squawl/chop on ground. Anyways she came back in and I tried to catch her, then she took off. She got on a better track and worked it really good for bout 30 mins. When she came treed I KNEW IT! Her mouth has gotten 10x stronger than it ever has been... Got to her and she was blowing the top out, I MEAN OUT. Ended up being a good den tree. I couldn't have been more tickled than a lil girl at Christmas. She's still got it...hehe. After all the things she's been thru, she's still got heart and DRIVE!

What a wonderful post! I really feel that it is important for people to come together as a community especially when we are in need... The fact that you shared with us and let US help you and your dawg with our thoughts and prayers means alot to me and to Bob! I cannot imagine a world without people who care!!!
Keep enjoying the "ride" with Storm! Heather & Bob

People always say..."when your in need just ask"... I did what I was always told. And it seemed to benefit me greatly. I couldn't ask for more heart-warming, heart felt support from anywhere else.

Storm I know would thank everyone for prayng for her, and her momma. She needed prayers and prayers, they made it up stairs. My lil girl is just the center of my heart now and like Christy said, my bond with her is STRONGER now than it ever has been. The other night I turned her loose, she stopped and looked back at me, like Mom can I go? Im wanted to cry but, I had to suck it up and tell myself "yes baby, please be careful." She's an exceptional hound, and can't and NEVER be replaced. God gives everyone on this Earth something to be proud of and SHE'S IT!
