Nicest plott I hunted with

Hunted several times with ERNIE Derr,s drum ...A consistant plott & loud stay put tree dog

I know of three of them, "Battle Creek Bayou Ben", a son of Morgon's Bayou Jake, "Prime Time Bubba" and a son of Prime Time Bubba and grandson of Flintstick, "Prime Time Grinner". These dogs will definitely tree a few coon!!

Good Plotts!

I owned some that were coondawgs that are gone but not forgotten: River Bluff Brindle Bones, River Bluff Grindstone Heater, River Bluff Fanny, Rancho Ruff and my at the present time my male Simmon's IN. Daybreak Gotcha and a couple nice females.

But I am not just hooked on my dogs I liked Cypress River Clyde he was Mr. Coondawg I think he made them and was a reproducer, Garrison's Ranger Mr. Treedog and a reproducer, a female Brent Zink owns that I judge at UKC World Hunt in 2001 don't rember her name for sure think it was Amy. Gary Miller 's Miller's Pony Creek Tryel. All in all I have hunted with several good plotts in coon,bear,coyote hunting. We all can answer to this knowing great dogs and bloodlines that we hunt with or owned.

Cross' Fireball owned by Jered Jepsen of Iowa. Son of Dual Gr Morgan's Bayou Jake and Cross' Mandy, full littermate bother to Revenge, Willy, etc.

The best Plott I’ve been in the woods was (Toskie Creek Sarge UKC Name) (Pine Top Sarge PKC Name). Ed Cobbler in Saluda S.C raised him. I bought this dog when he was 8 years old from Mr. Ed. He was the best Lay Up Dog I have ever seen. I took this dog to Fountain Inn S.C. one night and scored 925 plus, this was a PKC event. I have been looking for several years for a dog like this. Haven’t seen one yet. But I’m still working on some puppies.

I have to say hands down

Star Mtn Tess is the best I have hunted with. It killed me when the ex got her in the divorce and then sold her after as a 3 YO for $3500. Thank God he sold her local and I can see and hunt with her when I can.

That dog not only saved my life in the woods (more dependable than the ex) but she's been tops since day one and been the most versatile dog I have owned. It's rare that you get a total dog wrapped up into one (cat, bear, coon, lion). Most shine in one area over another. Tess turns heads no matter what game she is on and has caught all the above on her own merit. I remember picking her up as a 2 YO laying in the middle of the track on her side after treeing the bear for the third time (last time by herself when the rest of the dogs had quit). She could hardly move and stuck with that bear alone until her body gave up.

She caught her first bobcat on her own at 4 mos of age. (course it was a super hot track) I've seen that dog on wounded lion and bear and all you could see was brindle flashes as she worked it without geting caught but was still putting teeth in. One lion she was up in its face and ex shot it as it was getting ready to knock her off the blow down they were on. Rather than jump off she turned right around and ran down the blow down when the lion was shot out hitting the ground on top of the lion the same time he hit.

Yup, she's pulled some real boners in her youth, lol. Hardest plott I have ever dealt with concerning trash as a youngster. But she still to this day as a 9 YO comes off the box sideways, catches just about every bob she is turned out on, and makes every tree on bear/lion. Strike to tree I have not seen anything as solid as her on every critter she's been hunted on. Her passion on cats is just as strong as bear, lion, coons and she's got a good cold nose. Can't really ask for more than what she is in a dog.

I've hunted with a lot of good dogs. Some were better at this than that, etc. But She's the one that sticks out as tops across the board.

The best plott coondog i've been in the woods with has to be Dual Gr CH. Twin Branch Rollin' Thunder. I think he was high scoring plott male at the world this year according to UKC, I think the NPHA gave the award to someone else. Hmmmm might be a political reason there, who knows. I have hunted with some pups off him and a couple different females and they are really doing a good job too. So not only is he a coon dog but a reproducer to boot. Anyone raising plott coon dogs should consider him in thier breeding program.

Weems Plott Punie - outstanding track dog, cold-trailer, hard tree dog, very gritty, not 100% broke off deer. Produced some great dogs as well, i.e. Cannon's Kansas Joe Boy.

Sybert & Otto's Sarge - Scorpion quick on track and tree, poor track mouth, good tree mouth. Competition dog deluxe. Sired by Kansas Joe Boy out of Shortridge's Queen. Never hunted with Sarge II but his PKC record is there for the world to see.

Petit's Timber Tim - Owned by Harry Petit of Athens, Ohio, late 1950's. Saw him sail off a 30 foot cliff when my dad shook a coon out of the oak he was treed on at the top of the cliff. Coon dog!

Bear Pen Plott Hoss - 1960's. 60 pound, dark brindle, start a track - finish a track with a coon kind of dog. Classic tree dog.

Some great females - Wayne Allen's Star, Heath Hyatt's Brandy, Ronnie Barbour's Wendy, Shortridge's Queen, Buckeye Anne, Bear Pen Fancy and Fancy II, Bronco's Fancy Julie.

It's funny but I was just thinking about all the "supposed to be great" Plotts I've hunted with over the years that weren't but we won't go there, will we?

Let's see the best plott I have ever hunted with. I guess that would be a good book to read while I am out hunting. Morgon's Bayou Jake was a very nice plott and I am sure there is others.
I always wanted to hunt with Steve in his plotts. I bet he would have a good story that has a plott to it.

Haven't Hunted with many but Otter Creek Toby and Shumates Brindle Stalker were both extra nice hounds.

has anyone ever hunted with cannon's sizzlin heat? if so tell us about him.

I am not 100% sure,but i think i once heard that ol Heat was owned and trained by a couple of poor ol country boy hide hunters and Jim Cannon bought him from them boys when Heat was around 5 years old.They say Heat was cold nosed and super fast on a track and a fair tree dog,but he did not have a good mouth.Feel free to jump in and ad to this story or correct it.I am just going on hearsay and a poor memory!lol!

I hunted with Heat once. e was a quick strike dog who could flat out fly on a track and usually have the meat. He was a good tree dog but did not have a great mouth. He could sure getter done.

hunted with Heat on 3 different occasions and all of our dogs revolve around Heat. He said what others have said that heat was a fast strike and track dog and had very little if any change over. Kyle said Heat would get treed and had such a poor mouth that nothing would cover him. I can believe it because we have several grand pups from him and none have a mouth but they can all flat out fly. Run heads up and you better have a good one to get in front of them

I don't get to often I just got in from hunting and turned it on to unwind a bit. I saw this post and I can't help but remember Gr. Nt. Ch. Ocee Bawlie owned by Mr. Howard Chester, I hunted a few nice hounds in my time and I would hunt him again and again just plain coondog and I have drawn some of these dogs that have been mentioned and he stacks up with them! Like they say on any given night anybody can look good and he had some great nights. By the way Mike, Missy and Steve, Ross is here as he has been back hunting with Dad some and he says Hello to you all. Who knows I may have handle again as the Old Man would like a rest!LOL!! By the way Mike I did see your post a few weeks back give me a call the number is still the same I have been in Ohio for a week or so hunting! See Ya!

Was a Ranger bred male, NtCh Mister Candyman. He was my brothers dog and I handled him in the hunts for him. He met his demise by a car at 3yo. Well balanced with a great mouth and the most accurate dog night after night I have been in the woods with. Seen him tree coon with 4 or 5 inches of snow on the ground in the winter and have em on the outside. Also hunted with some real good Sarge bred dogs and a few good ones out of Pocahontas stock. I liked the Laredo dog out of the Bear Pen breeding also. A real nice coondog with a good horn.
