Sounds like a cheap way to get points on a dog. The kids don't care about finishing dogs they want to have time with their parents. They dont care about regstering dogs either I bet. Let them go have fun for a change. Adults can't compete and get along so why start pushing kids.

Kids World

It's obvious most of you are not familiar with the real picture. If it is not UKC sanctioned they would not send reps. to help hold the event. If it is not sanctioned, who will pay for all of the advertising? At the present time, we recieve 50% off for all Kid's World advertising in the Coonhound Bloodlines. If it is not UKC sanctioned who will pay for all of the photos of the winners in the magazines? Open for suggestions...thank you.

P.S. UKC has been very helpful in all of the above concerns since it was a UKC sanctioned event. No I don't even think that the youth care about points

Advertise in american beagler am sure Ridenhours would be helpful also post winners for free. Why do you need reps for a hunt with 20-30 dogs?

Posted by Kevin Watkins on 01-11-2010 01:28 AM:

20-30 beagles, but i couldn't even count the number of coonhound regestered. I didn't think about all the advertisement, what is the estimated cost of all this. UKC won't sponser the hunt without points? I agree UKC should be apart, and that they were very supportive of this hunt.

Donations should more than pay for the ad, etc. The Ohio youth hunt does good with donations and gives all kinds of prizes for the kids. I would say most kids come away with 5 or more prizes.
Good luck with it this year, I would be more than happy to donate to this hunt if it's a fun hunt. All the best..

To my knowledge, there were in excess of 60 coonhounds registered in both the water race and night hunt. The 2009 Kid's World was the first time for Beagles...so I think that was another reason for only 20-30 of them showing up.

entries last year

To my knowledge we hunted 80 dogs last year alone. We had over 450 total entries for the weekend. UKC will definately be the sponsor of the coonhound portion again this year. Just wanted to give everyone the same option but seems we have a lot of people talking when they know nothing about the event, only trying to make it better. NHBA was a huge supporter of kids world, we gave away 15, diamond plated dog boxes. This year will be the same plus 7 traing systems there is not an event that gives as much away as this one everyone try to get together

If its kids world why dont you give things more directed to kids like..schlarships, bicycles, wii systems, 4 wheelers.. Just a few odd ideas. You think kids want training systems or their parents do? Same thing with dog boxes, kids dont drive trucks.
Your right I don't know all about it, but I know enough to put my kids in fun hunts like the one in Ohio at Holmesville.
Well thats funny cause in the pictures and the information it said 22 beagles. I am talking about beagles not coon hounds.

I am sure they would be more then happy to except donations of 4-wheelers, bicycles, sporting and hunting equipment that would be great. I hope you will be able to help them out. I see them give away scholarships and much more every year we have went. Between Brazil and CIBC they put on a great event. If you need contact information for donations I can get you in touch with members from either one of these clubs. We hope to see you there.

I will not make a donation or support an event I don't agree with and from reading this thread seems like others think like me. You guys go get boxes donated and training systems and say its for the kids.. When is the last time you saw a kid use a training system? Hey there are so many entries why would you need any more support.
If I remember this thread was about getting free registration for dogs. So I guess whatever your doing is not working. Done talking about it.

If kids need to have a registered dog to attend the event then why don't the club build a list of kids that need sponsors? Isn't this about getting kids and the community involved in the beagle sport? Get a list of kids that need sponsored, list the kids, when someone volunteers to sponsor the kid put the sponsor behind the kids name.

I feel that kids need to learn responsibility as well when entering the sport of beagling there is a lot of responsibility. It isn't just that they have the dog, but the also need to learn that care and upkeep of the dogs is important, and if registration is part of it so be it, but there is no harm in a kid putting his name on a list to be sponsored this teaches him he has to work a little to get where he wants to go.

I am all for prizes for the kids, however I am not for Wii systems, 4 wheelers and the like, those items need to be earned through some sort of work.

I definitely am totally against the Wii system for aren't you trying to get the kid out doors? Well those remote paddles on the Wii System only go about 8 ft from the TV. If it was up to me TV's would be tossed out on the curb.

If you want kids to be interested in the out doors you have to make it fun and enjoyable for them and give them something they can talk to their little friends about.

What about a professional type photo of the kid and his dog now that is show & tell stuff.

If donations is what the club needs to move this in a positive manner, write up what the kids world is all about, put it out there, tell us what they gain out of this. What happens with last years kids are they coming back are they getting their friends involved? Lets hear more of the positive side of this event.

List out what is needed to help out on this event, and why it is important for the club to get these items.
